Tonight I'm going to a potluck with some friends and I'm being adverturous and trying to make "real" dishes instead of something out of a box or bag like I normally do at home (I'm no betty crocker for sure!).

My mom makes mac n cheese which is yummy and not too difficult so I'm trying that.

I also plan on trying greenbean casserole...a staple for potlucks and not too hard, right? Well...I'm wondering what kind of greenbeans work best. My favorite is french cut, just wondering if that works okay in a casserole. Thanks!

I've made it with both french cut and the plan cut - both work fine although in a potluck setting I actually like the french cut better as it dishes more easily.

Here's another vote for french cut. I don't know how you make
yours but I saute an onion w/a stick of butter and 2 cans of sliced mushrooms. Then after patting bread crumbs into a buttered casserole dish, layer 2 cans of french cut green beans, the onion & mushrooms mixture, 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup and slices of Velveeta cheese. Cover and bake for 30 mins on 350.
This is one of the best green bean casseroles I've every had.
Good luck on yours!

:D This recipe sounds so good. I usually use the one on the French's Onion can. Think I'll try yours the next time.
Thanks!:sunny:

It's my personal favorite. My Dad loves it and begs me to bring it every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Pls feel free to share w/your family.

Thanks so much everyone! I went with the french cut but I just used a generic recipe. TN Traveler...Yours sounds wonderful...I will definitely try it next time!
