Greedy NWA FF Miles Question

I'm flying to Dublin from Minneapolis this Sept and am wondering if I'lll be credited NWA FF miles for the leg that is with NWA and the other leg of my trip that is with Continental? I'm planning on purchasing my ticket through either American Express Travel sight or Expedia, if that makes a difference.

I am constantly looking for ways to collect miles so I can fly out of MN for my WDW trips, so that's why they're so important to me.

Thanks so much for your answers. I get to go to Ireland AND WDW this year!! I'm so lucky! :yay:  :cheer2:

Is there a reason you can't just book the flight through Northwest? That will ensure that you are credited with, I think, all the miles - IF the Continental leg is a codeshare.

Definitely book your travel through Northwest's website. I don't travel NW that often, but many airlines give a mileage bonus when booking travel directly on their website. Additionally, you save the $5 or so fee on Expedia for booking your ticket with them. Expedia, Orbitz and American Express travel are great tools for comparing airfare for different airlines at the same time, but I've personally never found a fare on those sites that is lower than that offered on an airline's own website.

For lots of information on code shares, freq. flyer miles, etc. I suggest visiting www.flyertalk.com Go to miles and points then to airline forums. It is a great source of information.

Continental is a NWA codeshare partner and you will receive FF for both legs of your trip as long as they have your FF #. I second booking your trip directly through the NWA website. Also, make sure you are registered for all of the NWA FF promotions. Just look in the promotions section of the Worldperks on the website. For example if you check in online they are crediting Worldperks members 1000 FF miles. Also, think about getting a NWA Visa.

Yes I have a WorldPerks Visa and use it faithfully. What am I missing?.............the flight on AE web site is $250 a person less than on any of the flights listed on the NWA web site. I think I did notice they ask for your NWA FF number when beginning the segments of your online purchase (the American Express site). I would also rather make the purchase right off the NWA site but it's the $$ difference. NWA site is $901 - ish and AE site is around $650 and Expedia is around $720 (including all fees and taxes). Let me know if I'm missing something, I'm not understanding why those Continental code shared flights aren't popping up on the NWA site. My dates are Sept. 15-24 and are set in stone. Thanks for any replies.

You should be able to get the WorldPerks miles for the Continental leg of your flight, since they are a code share partner with NWA. I've noticed that those code share flights don't always show up on the NWA website either - I don't know why??

Once you book your flight through AE or Expedia, you can always call NWA and make sure the mileage is applied towards you're WorldPerks account; it doesn't always have to be done at the time of booking. I've done that before. I've gone out of town for business where the flight was booked for me by the company's travel agent and when I returned home I just called NWA and told them I flew on one of their flights and would like the mileage credited to my WorldPerks account. They can check their records and verify your flight, so you should be able to do this with no problem. I just wouldn't wait too long to call.

Have fun in Ireland! We loved it last year and can't wait to go back... I'd be happy to answer any questions you may have.
