Greatest Gay and Lesbian movies?

Howard's End -- an awesome movie and also a pretty smack-dab on allegory for Hegelian dialectic.

Hegelian dialectic?
Wow - had to look that one up!

It just saturday :headache: - couldn't we do a compare and contrast on
Hong Kong Phooey and Captain Caveman instead.

We love Sordid Lives (the series)! LOLOLOL!

"Would you like a valium?" LOLOLOL!

That's fine, we accept everyone! I actually think the CSP's (Cool Straight Persons) might be starting to outnumber us :rotfl:

I am a huge Olivia Newton-John fan,BUT we don't have LOGO,so I haven't seen the series yet:sad1: only the movie.

I am hoping they put the whole set out on DVD once its finished its first run. I really want to see it.

I've been hooked on this TV show on LOGO. The death of Billy Goat had me cracking up.

And then there's the "That'll happen about the time I start shooting silver dollars out of my ***." :rotfl:

Thanks a lot.

:)

Whoever said, Fried Green Tomatoes being a gay/lesbian movie, I don't understand that.

Are you coming from the book standpoint? *Fannie Flagg is my favorite writer, but i haven't read that one yet* Or from the movie?

From what I know about the movie, Ninny had a son..*which we all eventually realize is Idgie* So did Ruth. Ruth was just abused by her husband.

I never got the feeling that Idgie and Ruth had feelings for each other.

"I love her." That's pretty strong feeling in my book.

New episode Wednesday, and I'll be gone. Ah well, will have to wait for the reruns. :happytv:

If my best friend were in the same position, i would say the same.

She said "Shes my best friend, and i love her".

I mean, loving someone, isnt always...being in love with them.

If that makes sense?? :confused3

It's unfortunate but I think that theme was significantly toned down in the movie. It's been years since I read the book but I remember that Idgie and Ruth were in love.

A valium? No, FOUR valium! :rotfl2:

Yeah, we're loving the series, too!

OMG I love that show! (and yes, I said OMG...don't judge)

The episodes are WAY too short though...it could easily be an hour long series...oh well!

Ah thank you.

I haven't read the book yet, but Fannie Flag always has a way with her words.

:)

Why not just a film salute to Ken Russell?

"Women in Love"
Oliver Reed and Alan Bates and nude wrestling.
And quite a good film to boot.

"Crimes of Passion"
Kathleen Turner and Tony Perkins

"Valentino"
Rudolf Nureyev
Was he, or wasn't he?

"Gothic"
Lord Byron (Gabriel Byrne)
Percy Shelley (Julian Sands)
Dr. Polidori (Timothy Spall)
And what happened that night that "Frankenstein" was created?

"Salome's Last Dance"
Oscar Wilde (Nicholas Grace)
Bosey (Douglas Hodge)
And Wilde's play presented within a play.

"Lair of the White Worm"
Lady Sylvia's (Amanda Donohoe) and Eve's (Catherine Oxenberg) better known lesbian innuendo.
Lord James' (Hugh Grant) and Angus' (Peter Capaldi) lesser known gay innuendo.
And what she does to that underaged boy scout, when he is in the bath ought to be a crime. Oh, wait! It was a crime.

"The Rainbow"
Winifred (Amanda Donohoe) and this time Ursula (Sammi Davis.)

"The Music Lovers"
Richard Chamberlain and Glenda Jackson
"It's the story of the marriage between a homosexual and a nymphomaniac." Ken Russell

I too agree, Fried Green Tomatoes amazing story...love Fannie!!! We also thought The Hours was very good, 3 different stories, yet all connected, very telling!
