Great Wolf Resort looks great

I hated Great Wolf Lodge. It is sooooooo hot in the slide pool area it made me gag. It is also soooooooo loud inside as well. It is a big time money pit, so add that to your budget if you add it along with Disney. For most of the summer months I would prefer to go to the outdoor pool parks in the area over GWL. They really don't have enough to entertain older kids, the slides get rather boring after awhile. I that the other water parks around the area have more variety. I live in Washington where you would think this would be a great place to go, but honestly, been there for 1 night and will never go back.

LOL...it's the WA one that I've heard such great things about!

I have been to the WA one twice during Spring breaks and we loved it. My kids still talk about it and it was a few years back now. Both times we stayed 2 nights which was good since we have at least a 4 hour drive plus border wait time. We will probably g back again.

Not sure if I would go to the one at Disney since I rather spend most of my time at Disneyland.

We have one near us and it is also marketed as a "staycation" for locals. We've been twice and it IS fun but my kids have outgrown it now (early teens) - or they're bored with it. For me, if our location had a lazy river, I probably would be inclined to go back again. The slides are fun but it's a lot of hauling yourself up many stairs. Both times that we went were in the winter months so we were always a little chilly when we were out of the water. As someone else posted, everything costs extra - a lot extra. They really do "nickel and dime" you to death. One thing to note, you can only access the water park if you are staying at the hotel. They don't sell day passes (at least not at ours).

I would be more apt to stay at the Courtyard than GWL. Part of being in Cali is enjoying the great weather year round. Maybe if you are a local you would want to go, but big money and not worth it.
