This was our first trip that we weren't staying at the Polynesian:(
I am happy to say that we had great time at the WL. We were there the 19th-23rd. We had visited the resort a couple of times and I always thought it was nice, but not somewhere I would want to stay. I couldn't resist the rates for a standard room. I made no room requests since I really didn't know what the lodge was like. When we checked in at 12:30pm the CM said I had been upgraded and that the view was nice. Well I don't know what our original room was, but we only got a different standard view room. We were in room 6083. Everything looked great and we did have a partial view of Space Mountain and we could see the MK fireworks. I really liked our room location. You could hear some noise from the lobby and from the trucks, but it didn't bother me. Housekeeping did a great job, a little spacey on a couple of things but we got our first towel animals :D We had a fun time swimming, mostly in the hot tub:cool: We have gotten spoiled with the monorail so taking the boats wasn't quite as nice, but for the price of the WL you can't beat it. We had lunch at WCC which was great. We used Roaring Forks a few times, I thought it was the same as Captain Cooks. I think the Mara has the best snack shop. All of the CM's were very friendly as were the other guests that we encountered. I would definitely stay here again but it would have to be in the winter when the theme seems perfect. While we did miss the Polynesian, the timing of our stay was great with the colder weather. We didn't have to walk outside to get to a longhouse and we got to swim in a hotub:D

Welcome back!! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry the weather wasn't the best for you, but like you said at least everything was in 1 building. I felt the same way last month when I stayed at AKL. We had so much rain that I was happy I didn't need to go from building to building. I went over to the Polynesian and it was so pretty there, but I would have been bummed staying there with such bad weather. Did you take any pictures?

My family is planning to stay at WL this December. Your report is encouraging that we've made the right choice!

Here are some pictures of our view from our standard view room. I have never come across any pictures of a view from a standard view room so I thought this might give some of you and idea of what to expect.:D

Here is a view of the Polynesian from the balcony. It is zoomed a little.

Here is the section we were staying in. This is coming up to the Lodge from self parking.

This is looking straight ahead, it's the Contemporary. There is a really good view of the fireworks. We were never in the room for the 7:00pm. I just happened to be sitting outside talking on my cell phone when there was a show at 10:00pm.

This is what it looks like below.

This is to the right and down below. This section of standard rooms doesn't have and vegetation down below just service trucks.

We will be going to WL the end of next Jan. Would you mind if I ask what kind of rate you got for this time of year?

We used a 'code' and paid $119 for our standard view room, that we got a complimentary upgrade on to a woods view.

Mirlow, your view wasn't too shabby for a standard view!
