Great Stay at BCV

We got back Sunday, but I haven't had time to get to the boards much. We stayed at BCV May 10th - 15th and then went on the 3-day cruise. We really enjoyed our stay at BCV. We were in a 1-bedroom, room 258 with a view of the pool. The location was perfect for us. We could use the stairwells to get around since we were on the 2nd floor. But we didn't have to use them much since an elevator was right next to the room. We loved it because we just went out the room turned left and the elevator to the quiet pool was right there. The room was in great shape. Only thing we weren't thrilled with was the bathroom setup. That extra door for the toliet area is really not needed in our opinion. We prefer the bathroom setup at BWV. But other than that it was a great resort and we will probably stay there again sometime. It was nice and hot while we were there and we used the quiet pool quite a bit. It's a great pool and very relaxing. We saw the alligator in the canal a number of times. One day a cm was out there trying to catch him. He told us that they tag them the first time that they catch and release them. Then they get two more times before they are sent to be destroyed. I thought that was a bit sad since he really wasn't bothering anyone. Luckily the alligator avoided being captured during our stay.

Nice to hear a good report for a change :) , glad you enjoyed your stay.

Thanks for the nice report. I still think that it is a shame that the positive reports get so little feedback while the whiners and complainers get all the responses....Rich

Yes it is nice to hear some postive feedback, I also appreciate the negative too. I always form my own opinion anyway but have had mixed emotions about BCV. I can't wait to get there and see for myself!

Thanks for posting and welcome back!

Hi - we were at BCV from the 10th to the 16th in room 558. We may have passed at the pool!

Our room was also close to the pool elevator and it made it quite convenient to get there and to the Breezeway.

We also had a wonderful time and enjoyed the heat. :sunny:

Thanks for the report!

We will be "home" for the first time in less than 2 weeks!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Glad to hear you had a great time and thanks for posting a report.

It's funny how some things are subjective. One person loves the idea of being near the elevator and another sees it as destroying their vacation. You can see how the room assigners can go nuts trying to please people.

Thanks for the great report. I know there have been varying opinions about the presence of the alligator, but I kind of like it - as long as there are no incidents of anyone getting hurt.

I always wondered what kept the alligator from climbing up the canal banks and hiding in the bushes around the parking lot or pool area, since it seems they are free to roam around. I'm not that familiar with alligators....

Tell those CM's to leave my boy Al E. Gator alone. He's not hurting anyone. (Okay, he did try to bite one of the turtles when I was there May 6-13, but it survived...I got it on videotape, lol.)

The CM's should instead try to capture the idiot guests staying at BCV who feed the alligator. Got that guy on tape, too!

I'm so sad about this! Thanks for the trip report! I loved BCV also. Looks like we were there at the same time (10-12). :)

I'm glad you had a great trip. We were there from 5-2 to 5-10, and did not have any problems either. I agree with MAC3 that it is good to know about the negatives, but we have had two stays without any problems and it seems like were are in the minority. I think the posts that point out the problems just get more play than the "just back from a great trip to the BCV" do.

I can't wait till our next trip.

We lived in Jacksonville ( my DH hometown ) for many years. We saw many gators in ponds, on golf courses, etc. We have also seen them at Disney. I thought they measured the guys periodically and then take them away if they got too big or tried to hurt someone. I always heard they didn't kill them, just moved them away from populated areas. At some point if there are too many gators in the state hunters are allowed to kill some, but this is not done on a regular basis. I would hate to think of Al getting killed, maybe that dumb tourist could just take him home as a pet LOL. Anyway, glad you had a great trip. We just bought at BCV but haven't visited yet!!!

I know I've posted this sentiment before, but in keeping with what several posters on this thread mentioned - I'm glad you had a good trip to BCV. We've been there twice without any problems and have truly fallen in love with the place! But we never knew to look for the alligator and doubt he'll still be there for us when we go back in November. Too bad - I'd love to see him!

Laceemouse is right, they don't kill them. Disney has a wildlife preserve on part of their property that is undeveloped. They basically leave the gators alone until they reach a certain size (or become a nuisance on their own), then move them to this preserve area. I've heard this both from veteran CMs and my public relations contact for WDW (I work at a newspaper).

Glad you had a good trip as well. Won't dignify the post about whining and complaining. As for the gator. Our speciality Cruise guide said, The gator is a touchy subject. According to him..They have tagged him and are watching him closely and checking his size. He told us that he is about 5 feet. They can move him at 6 feet and not before unless he gets aggresive. State law, according to him. But, At 7 feet they are required by law to remove him. Not kill just relocate him. So 6-7 at thier discretion. At 7 by law......... also on the fireworks cruise, as we were coming around by The Old Discovery Island. A gator slid off the embankment into the water. The kids got a kick out of that. We also saw the Beach Club's gator. and got a photo as well...

The CM that was trying to catch Al was from Disney's Wildlife Preserve. He said that there had been a number of complaints and that the gator was getting rather large so they decided to move him. But he did tell me also that they tag them the 1st time they are moved and if they wander back to a populated area they have 3 strikes and your out. He told me directly that they are destroyed after that.

Eva-great to hear you had a good time at BCV. One post on this site has over 4000 hits because it informs us of things that are wrong and need to be fixed, I would hardly call that whining and complaining but that is a big reason (the name calling indirectly) that we do not get a balanced reporting system here on BCV or anywhere else. Glad to hear from a long time member of this board. "Tony"

Eva...thanks for taking the time to post your comments. Glad you had a great trip! :)

Thanks so much for your great report. We will be going home for the first time in June and were getting a little concerned about all the negative reports we were reading. It was very reassuring to read a real positive report.

Thanks again,
Michele
