Just flew home tonight from a great trip! We stayed in a studio at BCV from Saturday the 21st to Christmas Day. A few tidbits......

It was a wonderful surprise that our room was ready at noon when we checked in. All requests were met...non-smoking and near the quiet pool.

Shower was powerful and hot! :)

Service was excellent as always for us and received a big Welcome Home!

Needed a few things from housekeeping (linens for the sleeper sofa and extra paper bowls). Called and received them within 10 minutes.

Walked right into Beaches and Creme on a Saturday at lunch time.

Was asked for ID as soon as we went for a towel at Storm-Along-Bay.

We LOVED the location! It was wonderful to be able to walk to Epcot within minutes!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

I assume from your signature that you've probably stayed at VWL, but have you ever stayed at BWV? If so, how do you think BCV compares? I HAD planned to try all the DVC resorts-did VWL, OKW, BCV-Whoa! Fell in love with BCV and now I'm afraid to go on to try BWV as I'd promised myself. I just can't imagine how any place could be as wonderful as BCV. Besides the comparison to BWV, how did you like B&C? What did you have there?

Happy Holiday's Simba's Mom!

No, we have never stayed at BWV. My DH and DSs want to try it, but I just don't get thrilled about it. My heart is at VWL and I think that it will always be our favorite. We just love that type of surroundings. Actually, we had family portraits done there this trip by Disney photo studios. I can't wait to see them! I love how we all have our own personal taste when it comes to our favorite resorts. :):)

We really enjoyed BCV and I would like to stay there again in the summer when we can take full advantage of the pool. Our DSs went to SAB twice, ID'ed each time, but just a bit too cold for me!

We enjoyed B&C. We walked right in on a Saturday at lunch time. DH, DS, and I had burgers and our other DS had a hot dog. DH also had chicken noodle soup with guess what shaped noodles??? It wasn't anything spectacular, but it was good and I can see it becoming a tradition now since we also went there in June!

Do you have plans for returning soon?

Karen--

Could you post what floor your room was on? Just curious as you are the first one to state that the shower pressure was powerful - most people have said that the pressure was not good.

However, I can't claim to know when all these people are showering. If everyone is showering at 7am, that explains the pressure questions right there.

Thanks for anything you can share.

Also, can you share info on the portraits? I am interested in how you set this up and costs.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reminder, KarenB! As soon as I get off these boards I have to call MS to make ressies for the weekend before Thanksgiving again. I'm 11 months out for our home, VWL, then at 7 months I'll switch either to BCV or BWV (only because I'd promised myself to try there)-but honestly at 7 months I hope I can't get BWV. Or maybe by then I'll talk myself into letting myself break my promise and go with what I love.

Our studio was a non smoking pool view, which we requested. It was room 416, right off the elevators and across from the laundry room. I thought it may be a bit noisy but didn't hear a peep!

DH and I took showers about 6:30am, DSs at night.

We can't wait to see the portraits! They were through Disney's Photography Service, and we made the appointment about 6 weeks ago. We could choose any park or resort except for MGM. We choose WL and had pictures taken inside and out and also by the tree in the atrium. About 35 pics were taken which took about an hour. All varieties too....all4 of us, DH and I, DSs together and alone, candid shots. We can't wait to see them! DVC members receive a 10% discount. Sitting fe includes all proofs and a portfolio made by Disney. I don;t have the price list for reorders yet.

Good luck on your ressies for BWV...opps, I mean BCV!

;) ;) ;)

KarenB,
What view did you have in studio #416? We'll be there for a week in June, and trying to get an idea of the layout.

Thanks!

BraveMom3....our view was of the quiet pool. Look in your member guidebook, page 92. There is a section in the photo that starts on the right and is positioned so you can really only see a long row, then it comes to where the "porch/balcony" juts out. We were right about where that first section sticks out. Hope that makes sense!

We really liked the area and I requested by the pool because my kids are part fish. We could see a part of the parking lot if we looked. I would request that area again in the summer when swimming weather was guarenteed (sp), but if we went again in the cooler months, I would like to try out another view.

Simba'sMom,

Remember you have 40 years to try all the resorts! It sounds like you may not be quite ready to break away from BCV just yet, but you will have plenty of other opportunities!

Lending more credence that the water pressure and temperature is affecting only the larger units...

Karen-
My sister and I recently became DVC'rs at BCV! We live in York. Are you near by! We are planning our first trip this summer in July! Hope we are as happy as you were! We just love Disney!:jester:

Hi blossomz! I just sent you a PM.

We are very happy as DVC members. BCV's was great!

Welcome to the DIS!!!!

Karen

We stayed in a studio in Sept. and had both temp and pressure problems. We were on a high floor, however, so maybe the lower floors are better... Hmmmmm, something to consider anyway... We'll be returning to BCV in May and I hope we have better luck in that dept.!! Your post gives me hope, Karen!! :)

We've now stayed at 3 out of 4 DVC properties (not OKW), and my favorites are definitely BCV and WLV, with an oh-so-slight preference to BCV. It's a tough call, though, because the atmosphere at WLV is so special and relaxing. I felt like BCV and BWV, in terms of rooms only, were very similar in feel. BWV is just too bustling and large for me. I also much prefer the pool at BCV. In terms of proximity, especially with older kids or adults only, you can't beat the Epcot location of BCV and BWV. It is pretty cool to be able to get to the MK and CR via boat from WLV, however -- definitely a plus with little ones!

Glad to hear your trip was so magical, Karen! Thanks for the mini trip report!

Take care,
Sarah

Hiya

Karen B, we stayed in room 416 last summer in fact we checked in on July 4th when the resort was only days old.

It was a great room. We loved the location too, pool view, and it was great just getting out of the elevators and straight into your room.

I must say, sadly, that the highlight of the room was I felt as if I had my very own laundry it was so close. Took me seconds to check on the laundry in the evening when DD was sound asleep and we were on the balcony unwinding after a long hot day.

We loved BCV and wouldn't hesitate to go back, I would definitely agree that we showered day and night and never had one problem with water pressure at all.

Next time we go, I would request this room again.

We also had a 5th floor studio in september & didn't have a problem with the water pressure or temperature. But I think it may also be what you're used to. We have water saver shower heads at home.

I will say that when we moved over to the Polynesian, the shower there felt like Niagra Falls in comparison!

We were in Studio #412 this summer and also had no water pressure problems. It was a great room -- right near the elevators and laundry, but still very quiet. We had a great view of the quiet pool.

We are such losers that we sleep late -- even at WDW. Maybe that's why we had no water pressure issues! It was also very hot out -- July -- but I never remember the room getting warm. If they have messed wiht the AC it must have been since then.

KarenB,

That is the exact same timeframe we are planning to go to WDW next year.

How were the crowds over the days leading up to Christmas?

thanks! Marley

marley....we were pleasently surprised at the crowds during our stay. We walked right on many rides and some attractions like Test Track and Tower of Terror we would get a fastpass, ride the ride in stand by then hop on with our fastpass!!

Jungle Cruise was a 10 minute wait, Big Thunder Mountain about 20 minutes, Haunted Mansion 13 minutes, etc. The only time we really saw massive crowds was late morning at MK around Fantasyland.

Our kids went to Disney Quest from 6-10pm on Saturday (12-21) and said there were a few lines but nothing that stopped them from getting their moneys worth.

I thought it was a great time to go!!

Karen
