Great Pizza on the route from Escondido to Newport Beach?

Can any locals suggest some great pizza restaurants on the route between Escondido and Newport Beach? We will be leaving the Safari Zoo and heading toward our hotel on a Sunday afternoon/evening. We will have a full kitchen in our hotel and just want to be able to relax in the room after a long few days of driving and the zoo so I want somewhere we can run in and pickup carryout. Plus-we will have a refrigerator and be able to keep leftovers

Pizza Port in San Clemente. It's also a brewery so you could stay for a beer or two.

I was going to suggest Pizza Port, there are several on your route, but I don't think there are any near enough to your hotel to bring it with you. We love them, usually go to Carlsbad or Bressi Ranch. It's about half an hour from San Clemente to Newport Beach, I think it would get cold if you got it to go. But it's a great place if you want to stop and eat there.

I'll be the outlier here, Pizza Port has excellent beer, pretty bad pizza. Still, if you're a hungry family, it might fit the bill. I've done it. Knockout Pizza is decent NY style pizza in the area. For something unique, try Pizzeria Del Perro Negro in Newport Beach. Mexican style pizza. Believe it or not, it works.
