We have decided to stay off property for our next trip. My question is about finding great off property, non-chain, restaurants. DW & I are celebrating our 10th anniversary and we love top quality, fresh food made with care and artistry.... Does the Orlando area have places to fill my needs?? We are going to some of our favorite WDW restaurants, but would love to find something off property too. Any help is greatly appreciated!

While it's a small chain, Seasons 52 on Sand Lake Rd fits your requirements for fresh food served with style. The menu changes with the season and everything is relatively low-calorie.

Yes, would you be willing to drive to Winter Park or Downtown Orlando?

Lots, you could go to Maison et Jardin if you like French food. Located in Altamonte Springs right off I-4.

Absolutely, we drive down so getting around is no problem.......looking forward to your words of wisdom!!!

In Winter Park, you have a number of options. Park Avenue has a number of restaurants that are very good, and vary in terms of price/style, etc. The only restaurant on this list that I have not been to is Bosphourous Turkish Cuisine.

In downtown Orlando, Hue is very good. Along with Citrus, and 310 Lakeside (which is the same as 310 Park in Winter Park, just a different location, but not a chain).

I've heard good things about Ember (http://www.emberorlando.com/) but have never been there.

Thorton Park has good places as well. Dexters is always a good choice (http://www.dexwine.com).

That should help you get a start. Like I said, they all range in terms of price, etc, to give you options. If you read about a place in particular and want to ask me, please do. I'd be happy to help. Its a bit hard trying to remember all the places off the top of your head so Im sure Ive missed some.

Take care!

Hmmmmm... Orlando is the great chain restaurant capitol of the world. :) Or at least Florida. :)

There is a local chain (bear with me) with a restaurant in downtown Orlando. Ceviche. It is a tapas restaurant with wonderful preparation and great service.

There are a few decent places in Winter Park. Park and take a stroll and pick the one that most appeals to you. They have a Turkish restaurant there, a Spanish (Cuban) one, and several others. Nice choices and not chains.

There is a really nice little restaurant in Winter Garden (about 20 minutes north of WDW) in the old Hotel. It's definitely fresh and very creative.

Don't expect too much from Disney restaurants. They've fallen off sharply with the increased use of DDP.

Bistro de Paris does have a nice degustation menu if you wish to take the time for that. Anything with Paul Bocuse's name on it has to be good, eh? :teeth:
