Where did you buy at? Disney or where?

Just bought akl 200 with dec uy 2008. Also got 2007 points + 200 developer points + 2 annual passes + 500 disney cash card. Didn't get the discount however, still paid 104/pt. Thanks to all for their help.

So we just purchased DVC on Sunday. The last day of incentives. We received the two annual passes but only 100 developer points.

Since I'm very new to DVC can someone please explain the difference in the UY?

so disappointed. i bought on tuesday and i only got $8 off a point, so $104 - $8 incentive = $96 a point for 160 points. i got the 2007 use year points, but it seems like everyone that buys now will get that.

that's it, nothing else!

so being that i haven't received my paperwork yet and i haven't even signed anything yet, i called and left a message with my guide and told her how disappointing it was to hear that there were those deals out there. it's not her fault, of course their objective is to sell with as few incentives as possible, but my point is I haven't even signed anything yet. even if i did sign paperwork already, there's still the 10-day cooling off period should I change my mind. so i left her a message asking her to work her magic and find something to add to my incentive package.

does anyone think what i did was a bad idea?

Thats all you would have gottn from them if you didnt have a member name to give to them and then you would have gotten 100 developer points.If you didnt have a member name then I would suggest calling them and giving them one and tell them you want the 100 devloper points.

what else do the guides ask for? just a member's name?

i doubt she'll believe me though. we spoke to this guide on our last trip to wdw (feb 2007). we bought and then we had to pull the plug because my husband was in a car accident shortly after we bought and i thought it would be crazy to push through with an expense like dvc at that time. so a year after, i called the same guide and told her that circumstances have changed and that we were ready to buy again. so i'll give it a shot - giving her a name as a referral - but i don't know where that will lead me.

i just hate that feeling of not getting the best deal, you know? but like i said, i can still cancel because i haven't signed anything yet, right? it's just that i hate the hassle. it's just like a purchase from a retail store. if price goes down after i bought, say, a new tv, then i just give them the receipt and they should adjust the price right? as long as i am within my 10-day cooling off period. but this is just me being logical. who knows if dvc is?

I think there is always a promo of some kind, right? I don't want to pull back the curtain for anyone that isn't ready, so stop reading here if you are easily upset. DVC isn't selling "discounted" contracts. They sell for what they think the market will bear. They say the price is $104 then they offer incentives or promotions effectively selling contracts in the $95 range. THIS is the price. The incentives are just a marketing device to help buys feel more pressure to buy now, thinking they are somehow saving money. Keep in mind that many DVC contracts resale in the $85 range.

I agree with you to an extent....however in this case the contract is $96-94 per point.....but i think what you are trying to say is that just like in a cash back deal for buying a car, they just add the cash on the top and act like your getting a deal...I never understood at least for the last few years, why you would buy direct from disney instead of the resale market which is so much more affordable

I would just tell them that you had the name of a member when you called but you were so excited that you forgot to give that to her.Tell her that you would like to use it and get the 100 developer points that why you wanted to call that day before it ended.
