I emailed the DIS board about 3 months ago asking why they didn't have a board like this. I am so happy that they have added this, and I will be visiting often. I want to start out by introducing myself and hoping to meet some other solo or adult Disney travellers.

My name is Joline. I became obsessed with Disney in October 99 when we went for our first time. We are heading back next September for our honeymoon. I am a full time college student and a part time waitress. My fiance is a laborer by day and bartender by night. I have a 4 yo cat named patches. I have my schoolwork and my cat to keep me busy, but otherwise, I am obsessed with getting back to Disney. We are planning on getting married on August 23, 2002, after dating for 6 years. I love Disney for the way it makes me feel, for the pride it takes in its park, and the romance that comes from it.

If you would like to introduce yourself as well, go ahead.

Look forward to the posts we will share.

My username here on the DIS is BobBrazeal but my real name is actually Bob Brazeal.

I'm an electrical engineer, so please be patient with me. I manage a team of software engineers and IT professionals. Our software is primarily for industrial robotics and vision applications.

I'm "single again" although it has been quite a while since I wasn't. I'm 46 years old. We didn't have any children and I can't claim any pets. I'm busy enough taking care of myself.

I've been to Disney World on and off since 1972. I was a highschool senior on my first trip. Only went occasionally after that until about 1991. Started going about once every other year, then once a year... Now I go two or three times a year. I think what got me was that first stay onsite. I stayed at Port Orleans Resort (now PO French Quarter) and I was hooked.

I found these boards when I started doing research on joining DVC. I bought an OKW resale back in Feb and did an add on at VWL last month. Now I can really indulge my Disney addiction. The only thing that I regret is not joining earlier.

Almost every trip that I make is solo and I'm very comfortable with that. I've been doing it now for quite a while and I really enjoy the freedom. I certainly wouldn't turn down company say at PI or for a meal but I'm perfectly happy alone if I don't have the company.

I'm very excited about this board starting back up. I found the DIS boards after the other "Singles" board had been closed. I think this will be a great forum to chat with people with similar interest and experience. I'm glad that it is an "Adult and Solo" board rather than a "Singles" board. I think that will give it much more board appeal. I'm looking forward to meeting some of the people from this board as well as others on future WDW visits. I've already signed up for some DIS mini-meets on my next trip in September.

Hi everybody!

I'm Pam and although I was born and raised in Central NJ (exit 123 off the GSP for anyone who knows), 3.5 months ago I moved here, to beautiful Orlando, FL (after first spending 1.5 years in NC). I work for an insurance company in the field of managed disability.

Currently, I live about 30 minutes from the parks and I love to head down whenever I can. I'm a huge fan of Voices of Liberty and many of the other live entertainment groups around Epcot. I also love the thrill rides and I'm fast becoming addicted to Who Wants to be a Millionaire. But perhaps my favorite thing to do is drive down to Epcot after work and grab a table next to the Rose & Crown to eat some fish & chips, drink some Bass Ale and watch IllumiNations, Reflections of Earth.

Most of my trips are solo, but I also love to meet friends from the boards. I've had the pleasure of dining with Doc and IllumiNations cruising with Glo. I've also spent some very fun times with folks from another Disney related website.

If anybody is planning to be in the area for a solo trip and wants company, feel free to email me. I'd be happy to get together for a meal or just a friendly face to talk to.

Hi, my name is Beth :)

I just turned 41 (YIKES) and I'm single, never married and no kids ... but I do have a lovely cat named Prissy (she's a calico - very pretty).

I've wanted to go to Disney since I was a little girl ... never, ever have been ... but still love all things Disney. This year I get to make my very first trip to Disney (though it's not a solo trip 'cause my sister is going too).

I work for the local government at the transportation department .. my official title is "Administrative Support Specialist" .. but really I'm a flunky.

Beth

My name is Sonya. I'm 27 years old and I live in central Connecticut. I work full time nights as an Emergency Medical Technican for a commercial ambulance company. I am also a musician. I play in a Community band in the area. I play flute/piccolo. I play flute in a flute choir, trombone in a brass choir, alto sax in a jazz band, and I also play clarient, oboe, and percussion. This fall, I will be going back to school to start on my Music Education degree.

I have been in love with Mickey and WDW since my first visit in 1989. Recently, I went on my first DCL cruise and had a blast. I wanted to go to WDW this year but none of my friends did so I'm taking my first solo trip Oct 28-Nov 1 this year. I wanted to see what Halloween was like at Disney. I already have a costume. I'm gonna be Sorceror Mickey!!! I'm staying at the CBR, which is my favorite resort.

I found the DIS in Sept 2000. I was mostly just a lurker until recently. Everyone on the DIS is great!!

What a great thread! My real name is Debbie, but I go by Debi on the boards (real difference, huh? :D ). I am a full time college student, and will be graduating in May (2002) with a degree in Business Management. I'm hoping to get in to retail management in WDW!

I became addicted to WDW in 1998 when my family and I went down for my high school graduation. I've been to WDW 10 times since then, with trips number 11 and 12 coming up by the end of the year. I love going to WDW solo, and and meeting other DISers! To pay for my WDW trips, I work part time (20-30 hours per week) in a supermarket, doing everything from checking to returns to just about anything else they need me to do. If it gets me to WDW, that's all I care about! :D

Who's next?

Hi everybody!

I'm Nancy, my DH is Barry. We're Disneyland newlyweds, just got married last Sept. at Disneyland Pacific Hotel, and will be celebrating our 1st anniversary Sept. 12 at Magic Kingdom. DH has 24 y.o. twins from his previous marriage, and I have 3 cats, Max, Cougar, & Button. None of them comes with us on our Disney trips, although the cats say they would like to!
I've been spending most of my DIS time on the rewards board to try to earn more money for Disney trips (HI, ChisJo), but was very happy to have found this board the other night.
We've been to several other DIS Meets, and really enjoy meeting other DISers, so if you'll be there Sept. 10-13, send me a PM and maybe we can get together.

Hi, I'm Shelly

DH(40) and I(34) have been WDW addicts since 1989 when we first met. We were engaged at Seaworld on the big screen at Shamu stadium in 1994, I was totally surprised, and married at the WDW wedding pavilion in 1996. We go every year for two weeks and we joined DVC in 1998 (should definitely have joined earlier). I am a florist manager for a major supermarket and DH is a manager in a computer software store. We have no children and plan to keep it that way. If it were up to me, I would spend all of my 4 weeks vacation time at WDW, but DH loves to go to the NASCAR race weekends. Just got back from Dover, DE and are going to Charlotte, NC in October.
I guess thats about it.

I have acalico cat too!! Aren't they the best!! My cat's name is Patches (pretty inventive, huh?). Anyways, hi perfectmatch and everyone else who responded. Hope to see more people introduce themselves here. Maybe next year when we can afford to go to WDW again, I might get the chance to put a face to some of these names. I am hoping to get the chance to visit Disneyland in the fall, just as a fix to when we can go to WDW next fall.

Happy to see some people responded to this. Talk to you again soon!!

Hi there. I'm Lisa. Single, 44, no kids, two adorable cats. I'm an executive assistant and live just outside Washington DC. Beth, I'm so glad to see that another woman over 40 who has never married and has no kids actually exists on this planet. Can you tell I don't meet a lot of people with whom I have things in common? Hence the solo trips to Disney. I really don't know people who are interested in or available for traveling much, and I like to travel a lot. I've been doing most of my traveling lately to Orlando (about four trips a year), because I feel so comfortable there alone. I have annual passes to WDW and Universal. People think I'm crazy for going so often, much less solo. I'm glad you guys understand.

Hello All

First off, I just wanted to shout out to Nancy--a fellow Wallyworldite!!! Too funny. I am 24 and am a total Disney Nut!!! I am heading down to WDW this August with fiance, friends and family for the 28th time. We are staying at OKW in a Grand Villa...the first time in the GV since we purchased DVC. I work as a margin specialist at a brokerage firm...very stressful..so I can't wait until the FUN of WDW!! I just can't get enough of this place...I never get tired of it. I have started playing golf, so now we play down there...we like LBV since it goes through OKW.

Tigger FAN FOREVER!!
Geebs
ps by the way, my real name is Jessica

ChrisJo..you're so wonderfully inventive with your threads!! :bounce:

Hi, my name is Cass and I'm a Disneyholic. It's been 8 months and 8 days since my last trip to DisneyWorld. It's been hard but it helps that my next trip is only 204 days, 19 hours and 47 minutes away.

Although, secretly, I am a walking-talking Disney Encyclopedia wanna-be, I moonlight as a letter carrier for Canada Post. My husband Rob is a born-again Disneyholic, it's in his blood, he just never knew it until he met me. He's an electronic engineer who annoys his fellow co-workers by playing Disney Trips radio on his computer all day long.

As a couple, we tend to annoy people by constantly re-routing conversations towards Disney topics, by blaring our Millenium Celebration CD on our stereo and by continually asking (over and over) if they have seen our Disney videos yet? :)

The only thing we love more than Disney, is spending time with each other. So, we go to WDW to spend time with each other there ;) Perfection!

Can you imagine that! A little town like Wallyworld, and you're the 4th DISer that I know of right here in town! % if you count my DH, but he hasn't registered himself yet on the DIS - he counts on me to do that. There's a couple more of us in Meriden too. It's a small world after all! :D :D :D

Nancy---I guess so...did you know that the first person in Connecticut to buy DVC is from Wallingford...the only reason why I know this is because my parents are friends with them....too strange!! I know of some Disney nuts in Meriden too! I have acutally turned my fiance into a Disney maniac too...before he came with me a few years ago he had only been twice (he liked it but not loved it) Now he can't get enough..he even went to the Star Wars weekends at MGM without me:mad: after I started taking him. I love how a simple vacation can change people forever!!!

My name is Sherri and my fiance is Chris. We live in Lakeland Fl, which is 30 miles from the parks. We used to live in NJ(exit 4 for all you Jersians) and moved here almost 2yrs ago. We recently bought Premium Annual Passes and I feel they have payed for themselves by now. We have gone everyweekend for 14 weeks. We never miss a weekend..LOL. I am a HUGE WDW/Disney freak( as my fiance call me..LOL) and we are planning a 2003 WDW wedding. I enjoy all things Disney including the parks. My weekly trip reports are always posted on the Trip Reports board so feel free to check them out..you may have to search them out. Hi all!! Glad this board is here!

What a great thread!

I'm Katholyn, I was born in Houston, Texas, a very long time ago but I live in Michigan now. So I chose the name nativetxn because my Texas heritage is very important to me.

I've been married almost 30 years to a nice guy who is unfortunately Disney impaired. So I have to depend on my pals on the DIS to understand my love of Disney.

We have one son, who is all grown up now, and we have a dog named Sassy that we love dearly.

Hi, I' cassie and I live in Cromwell Ct..Not too far from Wallingford...........................

I'm divorced with two grown-up kids. Altho the kids have been to WDW many times, my first was with my granddaughters 4 years ago. Just one day......

Since dd and dgds lived in Germany I figured I would never see Disney again. Well last year they moved here and the first thing I did was plan 3 days at WDW with the girls. I was so excited being there. I had to go back soon. Ten months later and I took my first solo trip ever anywhere.

Disney makes me feel comfortable and welcomed. Everyone thinks I was nuts to go alone, but they also think I'm nuts to love Disney.

Now I'm planning another trip in the spring of 2002.

Yes, I too have a calico cat...Her name is Molly. Also Tigger who is 19 years old, and my newbie Tom, a Maine Coon rescued from the shelter.

Can't forget Kayde, my seven year old Shep. cross.

By the way I'm a stores keeper in an electronics firm.

Hi all!! I'm Nancy (lots of Nancys) and I'm yet another 40-something that's single with no human kids but two furry ones - Cayce and Tigger. I'm in Michigan and I work as a program coordinator for two freshmen res-ed programs at the University of Michigan. My first trip to WDW was this year in February and I'M HOOKED!!!! I'm planning my next trip Jan. 2002 but this time I'll be going solo. I hate to admit it but this year was my first ever rides on roller coasters (RnR, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, IOA-Hulk & Dueling Dragons) - boy, was I missing fun or what?! LOL I love Walt Disney World and I think I'll be supporting my new "addiction" yearly by doing whatever I need to so I can afford at least a week in the magickal place.

It was so phenomenal to fly into Orlando International during the height of winter and see flowers and green grass and palm trees!!! But of course it made it that much harder to come back!!! Michigan was overall gray after all that color and magick.

It's great getting to know people here on this thread and board. A big Howdy from me to you!!!:smooth:

Hi Everyone,

I am so glad that they created this board!

Can't chat for long, as lunch is almost over ...

My name is Rich, and I am 32 years old and live in suburban Philadelphia (but I notice many Connecticut people here, my parents live in Farmington, and I visit up there quite often)

I will be at WDW solo from Sept 16 to Sept 21 ...
(Bob, when will you be there is Sept ?)

Do solo travelers use this board to make arrangements to team up with each other at WDW ? (What are the "mini meets" that Bob spoke of ?)

Any advice or information you could provide would be much appreciated!

Thank You Gracias Merci

Hi,
My name is JoAnn and I have worked as a Disney Store Cast Member for the last 4 years. I also work for a catalog company here in Maine as a computer application programmer. I try to get in as many trips as I can a year. I usually don't have to much trouble getting my sister or friend to join me.
