Yes but for a resort that's about movies you should encompass more than just animation. Sure what Disney does best is animation but that's not all they do.

Yeah they do live action movies as well, but most of them are either bad or have a very brief shelf life.

Why does Disney keep getting rid of their classic rides. We LOVE this ride. Hope it's not leaving, it still has long waits for people wanting to go on it. First Maelstrom and now this.

It's clear to see that Disney should make rides and resorts based on their animation and not their soon forgotten about or outdated movies like Mighty Ducks and Herbie.

Haven't read this whole thread, but if this is for real, they need to just close DHS down until they get everything built. They keep closing more and more. I never have an issue with change, but they are trying to do too much at one time. And it is leaving a very empty park for a very long time, if they are talking 2019 opening of many things.

Yeah I know, this park is going be great... in 2020. To be fair though most of the attractions they've closed are pretty bad. I don't think anyone misses LMA stunt show or the Backlot tour.

Hey now I actually liked Lights, Motor, Action and I was sad that I didn't get to go on Backlot as it was closed when I last went and then it closed for good..

What is a bad, boring, lame attraction is another person's favorite. In fact one of my favorites is the PeopleMover..hardly consider by people as just the most awesome ride out there (though others like me absolutely love it). I may be a bit indifferent about GMR closing, if it does, but that doesn't mean I don't understand that it's other people's top attraction.

Also I really loved the Sorcerer's Hat and the Earffel Tower though to others they were just eye sores.

Wait you're telling Mary Poppins is bad and has brief shelf life? Most of them are not bad. Not every movie Disney makes can or will be a hit either.

Personally I'm glad you're not making decisions for Disney. Mighty ducks and herbie are not outdated and forgotten movies in my book. If you use your logic the wizard of oz, singing in the rain, and gone with the wind are also outdated and forgotten.

Animation as well! Look at the WWII package features, the black cauldron, home on the range and chicken little and several others that have just their niche fanbase. Not every animated thing they have done has been golden either. As for the post above comparing the animated offering to the live action offering of the year, did you just pick the biggest failure just to prove your point? Parent trap was the same year as 101 Dalmatians, tron the same as fox and the hound, honey I shrunk the kids the same as little mermaid, etc. those were successful if not maybe a little more than what I just listed (definitely not in 101's case though)

Personally I'm a big AK fan so that park isn't dead by any means and with the additions it will be even better.

Well, the big reason, of course, is $$$. Disney doesn't own most of those movies and licensing comes due.

The other reason is that the ride really needed an update. Let me first say... I like the ride... but I used to love it. The Great Movie Ride, unfortunately, really sort of became "The Great Movie Ride According to 1998"

It also has this awkward pacing now with pre-recorded narration and sometimes-performing cast members. When you combine all of those reasons with the change in focus of the park, it's no surprise TGM was in line for a reset.

I don't know about the word "dead" but it's pretty clear that even with the 2 new Star Wars rides and a couple of Toy Story kiddie rides, DHS will still be far behind the MK in the number of attractions. AK will also still be in the same position, even with its two new Avatar rides and nighttime show(s).

It's impossible not to compare MK and the other parks and conclude that the other parks are seriously deficient. The word "dead" might occur to some people.

Disney doesn't see this as a problem, and apparently intends to keep it that way for the foreseeable future ... one whole park, one three-quarter park with a lot of fairly stale, old attractions, and two half-parks.

It's not me or other theme park fans who invented an impossible yardstick to measure against those three parks ... it's Disney. To paraphrase Robin Williams ... if MK is a theme park then *** is DHS?

That is true but I don't know if DHS or AK will ever get the number of attractions MK has.

You have a right to love what you want, but there are reasons why Disney got rid of attractions like LMA and Backlot. Most people didn't like them and they were seen as boring and outdated. Seeing props from "Flight of the Navigator" and "Thunder in Paradise" didn't excite people. "Star Wars" and "Toy Story" are generational franchises that will be around forever or at least until the zombie apocalypse.

Most people don't like Stitch but it's still there...

The backlot tour and LMA were part of the studio theme which DHS was. Now since they are changing the overall park theme they got rid of those attractions. They didn't get rid of them just because they weren't liked. LMA and the backlot tour were huge people eater attractions which is needed in the parks.

I said MOST of them are either bad or have brief shelf lifes. Mary Poppins is just one movie, there's like a hundred bad or forgotten movies I didn't even list.

Disney didn't do any of those movies you listed at the end. Plus only one of them could be a decent attraction or resort section. Not even the biggest fans of "Singing" and "Gone" want to see them in those areas. Just admit you're wrong and move on.
