Great Movie Ride closes for Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway

I would probably feel like I felt when I went to Universal 5+ years ago and rode on rides like "ET", "Twister", "Jaws" .. They felt exactly like they were .. a cheesy, old attraction from a movie that was decades old. Underwhelming. Universal (since that time) has torn down two of those attractions and are replacing them with something a lot more current.
I remember when twister closed, I told my sister that was it felt like the end of an era as now the only ride there that could be considered a "classic" is E.T.. Those rides were cheesy, yes, but they were definitely a lot different from anything else on either Disney or Universal's property. Now it just seems to be the same ride hidden by a different, elaborate façade. Sad part is if you ask me, the only one of their "current" properties in the studio that they're pushing that might stand the test of time and may not be a fad is potter. I definitely think fast and furious' flame is going to die out and Jimmy Fallon isn't going to be the tonight show host forever. Part of me wishes that despicable me could be with potter as the only property they're pushing that could stand the test of time, but it seems the moms on Facebook pushed them too hard.

I'm just hoping Mickey stands out with the new additions announced or still rumored that could be similar. I'm honestly thinking unless a sniper is hiding with a tranquilizer dart and I wake up with my wallet stolen at the end of the ride, either something stupid or something really petty is going to prevent me from liking this ride

Mickey sells more than I'm sure Aerosmith does. I know on one of the wdwnt photo updates recently they had Aerosmith on a few items in the store at the exit of RnRc. I don't believe RnRc will become Mickey themed.
Doesn't Aerosmith stuff always end up at the discount stores anyway? Mickey isn't as hot merchandise wise, as say Star Wars or marvel right now, but it's still as good of a sell as haunted mansion and stuff

Exactly part of my point. Mickey will sell better than Aerosmith stuff will for little kids

Not going to lie I'll take Mickey stuff over the newer stuff..I absolutely love Marvel but for actual merchandise stuff I prefer things from my childhood: mickey, minnie, disney princesses, little mermaid, mulan, sleeping beauty, beauty and the beast, etc though I would love to get haunted mansion stuff too in my area stores.

My DS will be so bummed about the GMR closing. Surprisingly to me it was always his favorite ride at DHS.:confused3

Like it or not .. if the theme of FutureWorld in Epcot starts to change, SpaceShip Earth may have to be gutted and filled with an entire different attraction too.

I agree about GMR, but not Spaceship Earth. It is now a timeless attraction thanks to the "Create Your Future" storyline. Everyone loves seeing how goofy they look with their head on a cartoon body.

I think live action movie based attractions are the only rides that become dated. Honey I Shrunk Kids at the Studios and Epcot, Mighty Duck and Herbie at All Star Movie, etc. There are very few franchises like Star Wars and Harry Potter that will remain relevant when future guests visit the park. I even think Fast and the Furious is a bad idea for Universal. Even though that franchise has like 8 movies it isn't going to be beloved in 20 yrs.

Not everything can be like Star Wars or Harry Potter though. Herbie is a Hollywood classic and makes sense at all star movies. People still recognize the car and likely will for eternity. Just because you think it's dated doesn't mean everyone thinks it is.

Dude no kid says "Mommy and Daddy I want to stay in the Herbie section". They could have gone with any of their beloved cartoons and it would have been better.

There isn't a herbie section. They only have a few movie props out there. All star movies is about all movies not just Disney cartoons. If I'm not mistaken herbie was made by Disney.

They have a Herbie section at All Star Movies. It is towards the back of the resort where people usual don't want to walk. Anyone who goes to Movie usually wants Toy Story, Fantasia or 101 Dalmations.

It would be neat to have something more meet and greet maybe a unique dining experience with characters geared less away from the Princesses. There needs to be more for boys and non Princess type girls. Just my thoughts...

It would be pretty cool if they had a Star Wars dining restaurant all year round. This way we don't have to wait in line for the characters and they'll come to us.

I like herbie and I'm young so not everyone doesn't like herbie. You also have to look at when the all stars were built.

They'll be Star Wars dining in Star Wars land. It won't be a typical character dining though.

Movies opened in the 90's, one of the greatest times for Disney Animation. Beauty & the Beast, Aladdin and Lion King came out in the early 90's and A Bugs Life came out the year before Movie opened.

You can't get lion king at AoA. All star movies is about all movies not just animation.

AoA didn't exist back then and the others still aren't apart of a value resort. All of the animated movies ever created are still movies just like Toy Story, Fantasia and 101 Dalmations which are at All Star Movies Resort.

Yes but for a resort that's about movies you should encompass more than just animation. Sure what Disney does best is animation but that's not all they do.
