So currently TRU has buy 1 get 1 50% off on all Legos. They also have the deal on Lego city which is from their Sunday ad I believe. You can get both discounts on the second lego city set if you buy 2 Lego city sets.

So I bought the Toys r us semi for $54 and the police boat (originally $42)...I was planning on getting the police boat for $21 after the buy 1 get one 50% off but I ended up getting it for $10.74!!! It is a great deal.

So the lego freak that I am I went back today because I didn't know what the deal was at the time.

The second 50% off only works if you buy 2 lego city...it does not work online...If you buy 4 lego city sets have the cashier ring them up under two transactions because it only gives the double 50% off of one. No guarantees that it will work but I hope that it does if you try.

I didn't find out if the double deal worked until the cashier hit total on the register.

It's a great deal until you take note of Toys "R" Us's manipulative pricing policies, raising the prices of items closer to Christmas and then putting them on "sale."

The retail price for the Toys "R" Us LEGO truck, and the price I paid back in October, is $39.99. It was raised to $53.99 just before these "sales" started. Toys "R" Us raises the price on LEGO sets starting in early November, anywhere from $2 to $40. The prices go back down again in January.

They don't raise all of their prices. The city sets are pretty comparable to what you find at other stores. Others are definently marked up.

The city sets are, on average, 10 to 20% above retail, or what one would pay at a LEGO Store or Lego.com.

I agree. They mark up the LeEgo City sets and then put them "on sale"...just another reason I won't shop there. You can get better deals on Amazon and at Borders.
