If you have miles saved up, this is a pretty good deal! 1,000 miles can be redeemed for a $25 e-certificate towards a United or Ted flight - 5,000 miles can be redeemed for a $75 e-certificate towards a United or Ted flight. If you're a MP member, you can redeem by logging into your MP account online and clicking on the "United e-Certfificates" box on the right hand side of the screen.

I cashed in 15,000 miles to purchase 3 e-certificates, and with the savings our non-stop DEN-MCO flights came out to $122.30 each!

One note of warning: you can only book one ticket w/ each e-cert code (even if you wanted to pay full fare for the others), so for a family you have to do it all separately and then call and link all of the reservations. I also had to book DD5 as an adult because the system wouldn't let me buy a ticket for a minor w/ out buying an adult ticket as well. But no worries, I just called them and they added a note to the reservation and assured me that it wouldn't be a problem at all. :thumbsup2

ETA: Travel must be completed by June 14, 2007.

Hmm, this is interesting, but if 1K miles is worth 25.00, shouldn't 3K miles be worth 75.00?

Also right now if you take 3 flights before Feb. 28th & register beforehand, you can get a bonus 25K miles... I'm thinking of booking 3 trips for 120 a piece, so 360.00 for 25K miles plus online checkin/booking bonus & mileage....

I can't decide if I want to do it.... I wish the miles would post sooner than mid-April because I need miles NOW to book a year end Hawaii trip.... what to do....

I wish! But still, I figure that for 15,000 miles I got $225 in discounts. For me that's just as good as the free ticket at 25,000 miles because I would've used that for the DEN-MCO anyway. It's like I got it 10,000 miles early. :)

This is a great deal for someone travelling before June! I just checked out the terms on United's website and travel must be complete by June 14, 2007 using these certificates.

Yes I saw the short deadline to use them too. I'm still thinking about doing this myself. I just wish United/TED would offer some good deals. I would pay the standard price for my May trip if the times were half way decent.

You're both absolutely right - I overloooked that because my dates already fell within the redemption period. I just edited to OP to reflect the deadline - thank for the heads up! :)

n2mm - keep checking back! The fare for the flights I wanted went down by $50 in about a week - you might get lucky too! It probably is easier from Denver though, because we're a United hub so there are more flights to choose from. I did pay the full fare to fly United on our last trip, and I still felt that it was worth the price because it was non-stop and we could utilize resort airline check-in for the return. I love that service!!
