I know a lot of people take water cameras to Disney for the water parks. About a week before we left for Disney, my husband came across a digital underwater camera. It was a regular 5.0 mega pixel digital camera that came with an underwater case. We originally were going to buy 3 underwater disposable cameras, one for each of our children. By the time we bought the three cameras and then paid for developing, the cost would have been between $50 - $60. Wal-Mart sells the Vivatar underwater digital for around $56.00. Unfortunately for us, it is only sold online and there was no way we could get it before we left for Disney. We did find an almost identical one at Meijer. The only difference was the brand (Vivitar vs. GFM). Everything else was identical, except for the price. The Meijer version was $99. After much debate, we decided to go ahead and purchase the $99 one, figuring we would use it several times.

To make a long story short, it has been a wonderful investment. You can take regular pictures, as well as video. It has an expandable memory card slot, so there is plenty of memory. We have used it going down water slides, swimming underwater, etc. I plan on posting some of them when we get home from Disney next week. If you attend the water parks, or have a pool of your own, I highly recommend this purchase. I would get it at Wal-Mart online and have it shipped to your local store to avoid shipping charges. If you have any further questions about this camera, PM me. I am soooooo glad we made this purchase.

Here are some videos that we took using our underwater digital camera we purchased at Meijer. (See above post) As much as I hesitated to spend $100, it was well worth the money. Hopefully, we can use it for years to come.

Several people have asked for information about this camera. The brand name is GFM and the model number TDC531K. It was purchased at Meijer for $99.99 and we also bought another memory card for $14.99. It is well worth the investment.

:tigger: Thank you for your tip. I just ordered my camera from walmart. The only worry I have is that it uses aaa batteries. So hopefully I will be able to find aaa rechargable camera batteries for it. I had my 300 camera stolen last year at disney and my husband bought me a real nice more expensive one this year and I am really worried about it. So reading your idea was real exciting to me. First a cheaper digital camera is awsome. But mainly because we are going to discovery cove for the first time this year and I did not want to bring the nice camera and we were going to buy about 6 disposable waterproof camera for the fish and so on but like you said after developing them the cost is about 20per camera so we would be spending like 120.00! With shipping 2-3day delivery I paid about 70.00! Thanks for the tip! I will post pictures when we get back after christmas.

Thank you,
Heather

You can get AAA rechargables. If you already have a charger see if it can take AAA's.

One other thing if it uses 3 AAA like my cheapo camera you are going to have trouble charging them. Most chargers do two at a time. Luckily the charger that came with my Sony can do one at a time.
