Great Bear Lodge?

Has anyone been to the Great Bear Lodge in Sadusky, Ohio (near Cedar Point) or the Great wlf Lodge in Traverse City, Michigan? I'm wondering if it's worth the hefty price for rooms. The web site is so neat, I think DS would have a ball there for his 7th B-day.

Yep, went there last winter. DW, myself and DS had a blast, but I would recommend trying to go off-season (e.g. non-summer months) and during the weekdays, so that you can get a decent rate on a room. It's a great hotel and waterpark, but not worth rack rate prices.

Not exactly the same location, but we stayed at the Great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin Dells (same company, I believe) last month. Kids loves the indoor waterpark (outside pools were cold) and the room service pizza -- go figure. We ended up staying an extra night because it was so neat. The room we stayed in was what they called a family suite -- 2 queen beds separated by a partician and a couch with a couple of chairs. A very nice room. I was able to get an internet special for the room price. We'll return -- probably off season. I know the kids will love the waterpark, regardless of the outside weather!

Yes!! We stayed there for 5 days the week of the 4th of July. Very nice! Beautiful room. We stayed in the largest suite cuz there was so many of us. So huge and decorated beautifully. Wonderful staff. The pool is great especially for little ones. I would definitely go back.
We have also been to the one in Wisconsin..loved them both!!

We have a Great Wolf Lodge here and I too was wondering if it is worth the money. I was thinking about taking youngest DD there for her 7th b-day in December. Oldest DD got to spend her b-day this year at Disney's resort on Hilton Head Island , DH spent his b-day at WDW and I will be spending my next b-day at WDW. Unfortunately, youngest DD's birthday is 2 weeks before mine and there is no way we can spend hers at WDW or go out of town right before Christmas. So I thought this might be something special for her, but it seems really expensive. Maybe I can find a good special or something.
