I saw a nice biscuit solid colored granite sink. Its about the same price as a stainless steel sink, doesn't scratch and the salesperson says that it really doesn't stain. She has one and loves it. The color would blend nicely with our granite counter top. Anyone have one?

We replaced our countertops and sink last November and installed a brown granite sink. I love it!

No more battling water marks on the stainless. It looks good, is easy to maintain, and the size and depth are great. I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

Thank you, that is good to hear.

We had granite counters put in two years ago and I choose the the granite sink. I really love it. It doesn't scratch, stain and looks good after wiping with a damp cloth.

Very nice!:thumbsup2

I have a white granite sink that I've had for about 5 years now.

I hated the stainless steel sink I had and just went with it. I really still like it. I will say that the bottom of mine does discolor but I can pull most of it out with Barkeeper's Friend. I would imagine having any kind of color would have gotten rid of that problem. I really don't mind it though. It's easy enough to clean up.

Stupid question from a non granite owner.
I thought granite required yearly treatments to keep it sealed and prevent it from staining? I'll have to ask my neighbor. She put granite in about 5 years ago and every year the company comes and takes power equipment to the surface, polishes it, and then reseals it. Sets her back about $500 a year.

I have uba tuba granite in two small areas of my current kitchen and I have never had to have it resealed. Of course they aren't high use areas but my brother has had his granite for four years, gets a lot of use and looks fine. Usually it comes sealed from the fabricator and you can buy a sealer that applies like windex.

Thanks, we're really happy with how our kitchen looks now. We'd been in this house 10 years before we upgraded it!

Please share some photos of your kitchen after it's finished.

Sorry to go off topic but I love your granite choice - can I ask you the color? Thanks!

We bought a high-end, expensive Franke stainless steel sink. Paid more because we knew how much use it would get and wanted it to hold up. I hate it! It scratches easily, the coating on the grates that line the bottom of the sink (to keep things from scratching it :confused3) chipped off and rusted and the finish hasn't looked new since the first month. That's what I get for letting DH fall for a 'brand' name. (Yes, I'm blaming it on DH. He's the cook in the family.)

Stainless steal because granite emites radiation.

The sinks do not need the resealing. It is granite but it looks/feels/is different from how the granite looks on a countertop.

On the 'plus side', you can see the difference between your average stainless steel sink and the one on the high end. The finish is so much nicer. I was looking at the $900 stainless comparing it to the one that I would get, ($300 plus the cost of the grids) and you can see the difference. I think I am going with granite.

Good choice. I don't think you'll regret it.

And the way I look at it is, while we're not made of money, the sink *is* one the cheaper, easier things to replace. I figured if I absolutely hated the granite sink after a year, I'd just go get the stainless steel sink.

We have a granite sink. We love it. I can't imagine having a different sink. It is the best.

I've got a Blanco Silgranit. BEST - PURCHASE - EVER!!! Six years later and not a scratch or a ding or a stain, and it requires no maintenance whatsoever. I just scrub it down with the dish brush when I'm finished washing the pans.

(PS: I got rid of a double sink in favor of a single VERY deep bowl. Since I have a dishwasher I really didn't feel like I needed the two bowls, but I'm short on counter space, so reducing the footprint was a good trade. My Blanco is 10" deep.)
