Grandpa’s last trip to Disneyland CA

Thank you all for your helpful comments!

I realize I mistook the delivery of some comments and I’m sorry if I seemed defensive.

Keepin all of this in mind, I will def make sure to do the best I can!
Also, sorry for the misunderstanding or communication err, but I meant to say NYE not Christmas! I am not translating in english correctly.

Reason for waiting a few months is for money and for the holiday, and this is something we have been considering for about a year when things took a turn for the worst. A tour will for sure be on the list.

Is there a reason why it has to be on NYE? There are holiday shows earlier in December when it will be less crowded. That might be easier on him and a more enjoyable experience for a last trip. Have you considered booking a hotel room on premises so he can go back and rest when necessary?

My family came up with the date, though I personally don’t think it’s the best time to go.

We are actually thinking of doing just that but money is always the issue so hopefully what you mentioned about the on premises stay is possible.

I'd like to suggest that you and your family discuss the date selection with your grandfather. My mom is a spry 84 and there is no way I would take her to the parks when it is crowded. What works for your family may not be best for your grandfather and his needs should be priority. Maybe you can convince them to go earlier in the month.

I'd tell your family that you asked the experts and that a trip to dlr at that date would not be good for his health. A calmer time of year would be more enjoyable. Maybe early January. And buy trip insurance in case of early demise.

Hotels will be cheaper at a less busy time. You can look at best western park place inn or park but in for a very short walk to the parks. He'd probably need a wheelchair. Or you could see if there is space at candy cane inn. They have a private shuttle.

If you don't have enough money for the trip now you probably can't afford a VIP tour at like 450-600/hour minimum 6 hours.

We were there last NYE and some days before/after...it rained...it was packed...parades were cancelled....it was cold. We love DL and had a great time since we went in with the right expectations and are young/fit and can go back with our APs to see what we had to miss. But,it just really isn’t a good time to take someone sick, weak, and wheelchair bound on their LAST trip.
