I was wondering if anyone knew how tough it is to get a Grand Villa in WDW if its not your home resort. Specifically at the Boardwalk Resort. Also if Anyone has stayed at any of the grand villa's, How was it? What did you like or dislike about the room or location. Thanks!

There are only 7 or 9 GVs at BWV, so not likely to get one if it isn't your home resort. At OKW, we have 27 GVs, and they sometimes are available at the 7 month window, depending on the season. SSR jas 30 some, and I would think they would have the most availability. OKW GVs are the lowest point cost. Oh, and AKV will have plenty of GVs too, but I can't remember the number if I ever even heard it!

Oh, and we have stayed in OKW GVs several times. LOVE the space and layout of everything except the kitchen. I actually prefer the 1-2 bedroom kitchens at OKW over the GV kitchens because of the awkward placement of the sink. I've never stayed in a BWV GV, but we did tour one of the single floor ones, and it was spectacular looking.

I have stayed in three different ones. 5047 I think, 4037 my favorite, and I think 4047. all were one story. I usually have 6-8 people sharing one and we have tons of space. My son's friends sometimes show up and spend a night or two on the aero beds which i always bring for unexpected guests and family who live in the area and sometimes join us. We had a party one night with over thirty people and their was still alot of room. The view from 4037 was incredible and the balcony overlooking the boardwalk holds alot of guests
to watch the fireworks. We always call at the 11 month window day to day and I've always gotten what I want for 10 days, even the year I rented two of them at the same time. However, at the 7 month window unless you are very lucky or pick a slow DVC time (high point periods ) and then mostly weeked nites, you will have slim pickings. I would recommend that you go to the rent trade board right before the 11 month window opens up and rent a reservation or buy points from a BWV member. I know they are available for cash but its a ridiculous nightly fee....too rich for me.

We tried to get a GV at BWV for a week last November at the 7-month window and came up empty. We ended up getting a 2BR and 1BR at VWL instead. It actually worked out very well for us, and required fewer points. Of course, the nice thing about the GV's at BWV is that I believe they are all facing the lake.

:cool2:

We have stayed in one of the two 2 story GVs and been in the one story villas. We had a great time in our GV but if I had my choice, next time I would ask for a one story GV. They are actually bigger. The 1 story has a big laundry room, also great for storage. The two story has the stackables on the 2nd floor, and no seperate room. The one story has extra room in the living room and an extra couch and balcony room. The two story only has a balcony out of one of the bedrooms upstairs. There is no balcony off the master bedroom either. The two 2 story villas are on the 5th floor, right in the middle of the pillars under the Boardwalk sign. The upstairs bedrooms are on what would be the 6th floor if there was one. They are right next to each other and I believe the room numbers are 5045 and 5047.
