I would like to get some opinions and thoughts from people who have done a Grand Gathering.

1. What did you do?
2. Was it as wonderful as you hoped?
3. Did Disney do anything to make this a speical trip for you and your group?

I am planning a family reunion and am looking into this. I would really appreciate anyones experiences good and not so good.

TIA

Angel

Ok, someone must have done a Grand Gathering sometime. There are a few of us who would like some feedback. Is it worth the money and time? Does Disney do anything to make it special for your group?

BUMPING FOR HELP :bounce: :bounce:

2004 we only stayed one night before our cruise, but we booked the rooms under grand gatherings. We had three rooms with 12 peopls plus an infant.
All of our rooms where all together and some even connected. We stayed at Pop Century.
The only complaint we had is that our group had arriced around noon. We had taken an early flight and the infant was very tired. When we checked in they told us ONE of the rooms was ready and in fact was the room that would have had the infant in it. BUT the other two rooms were not ready and sooooo NONE of us could check in.. We didnt care that the other 2 rooms werent ready .. we just wanted the family with the infant to check in so the infant could rest. After trying to explain this for 30 minutes we all walked away very upset...
I then called guest realtions and explained again why we needed just the ONE room and was told they would get us all in right away. so they had us go back to the front desk and they checked us all in and told us that the other 2 rooms might be ready when wallk to the rooms... When we did get to the rooms they were all ready.
All turned out fine and we had a great stay.
so much that we have another gathering booked with Pop Century for December this year. 4 rooms and 13 people.

I would like some info on this as well. Any info on parties and such would be great! Thanks.

Angel,
I do not have an answer to your question, but I noticed your signature line. I just wanted to let you know how happy I am for you that your Son in law is home safely. Enjoy the time you have with him!
Our troops (including my hubby) are in my thoughts everyday.

I'm in the final planning stages of my second Grand Gathering group. The first group was 16 people in August 2004. We did the fireworks voyage, and it is worth every penny! This trip we have a group of 19 and have the regular pontoon boats booked, but aren't doing any grand gathering experiences this time. We do have all of our dining and rooms booked as a grand gathering which makes planning much easier. The magical gathering number that they will give you "links" all of your reservations together, so when you call to book activities or dining, the cm will be able to pull up everyone at once and see how many are in your party, ages, etc. Hope that helps a little, I'd be happy to answer any questions! Happy planning!

We are doing a GG in 30 days-
We are not taking advantage of any of the special events so I can't comment there. They seem kind of expensive- but if you have the dining plan some of them can be purchased for 2 TS credits (the Illuminations one, the Safari one, and the Tony's can be purchased with 2 TS- NOT the fireworks Peter Pan one)

The only advantages for us is that our rooms will be grouped together and we are supposed to get some sort of printed itinerary with all our dining ressies on it.

As far as it being worth the $$$- it does not cost anything- just the special events cost $ (and you are not obligated to participate).

We are a group of 8 leaving next week, I can have a better view of things when we get back.
So far we are booked at POP in 2 rooms, we are arriving in 2 groups(1/2 driving 1/2 flying) we have the Epcot International Storybook dinner planned.

Yes they mail you your itinerary, that is nice-it lists all of our ADR's with confirmation numbers.
