Grand Gatherings at Fort Wilderness?

I was just reading about Grand Gatherings on Disney World's Web Site. Is Fort Wilderness considered one of the "select" resorts where you can have a Grand Gathering?

I don't know about select but you can have a Grand Gathering here. Look further down in the threads and you'll see a couple of threads about a 4th of July Gathering and a Memorial Day one. These were started for a bunch of DISers on this board to get together. Good luck with your gathering

When I made my ressies this year I told the CM who made the inital ressie I was going to be bringing a group and asked how each one could pay on the trip...the more added the less they pay...we got the dining plan as well and are really looking forward to doing Mousefest with a huge group from all over the world!!!!

The way the group did Grand Gatherings at the Fort was everyone made their own reservations, the organizer then called Disney and added a Grand Gathering number. The Grand Gathering number was published and anyone reading the board was free to call Disney and add the Grand Gathering number to their reservation. Then most agreed on a loop to request, and bingo you have a Grand Gathering.

I wasnt aware that you could get a discounted rate for going as a GG. Maybe you guys should check into that for the 4th GG.

I did. They told me that my AAA discount was better, so I kept it.

We had a Grand Gathering last September at Ft Wilderness. There were 17 of us and we had 4 cabins in a row in the 2400 loop. By booking as a GG, you can get your rooms (cabins, camp sites, …) together. The initial reservations were all made together, but each cabin was under a different name and paid for separately. It worked out great for us. We loved having all of the area outside around the cabins to hang out together.

Our December trip is booked as a grand gathering. It's also nice to call the GG number and not be on hold forever and a day.

Isn't that cool? I think the longest I have waited on the GG number is 2 minutes.
