Just a quick question about GG's...I asked this in another thread of mine but I think it got a bit overlooked...our group of 18-20 only wants the GG "status" to hopefully get our rooms close together. Is that possible? Or by becoming a GG are we obligated to participate in other things??

Hi, we are doing a grand gathering in about a week. You are not obligated to participate in anything; however, you do have some options available that are only for groups of 8 or more. We are taking part in a grand gathering breakfast at Tony's with a special VIP seating at Mickey's PhilharMagic. There are other activities as well for you to choose (or not) from.

Also, a grand gathering does not guarantee rooms close to each other. We have requested connecting rooms for some of two of our rooms. We also have some people staying at a completely different resort. It might be good to have some alone time. Don't get me wrong... I love my sister and her family, but I am sure that we will not be connected at the hip. Plus this gives the opportunity to see a couple of different resorts that we probably wouldn't have otherwise.

There will be one person who is the "lead" person. They are basically the point person for the grand gathering and will be given a special phone call a couple of weeks prior to the first person's arrival with a detailed listing of reservations, special requests, dining info and more.

Your group will be given a grand gathering number so that all of the information and reservations can be linked together regardless of who is making a dining reservation if you want as well. This makes it easy if you are the person making dining plans or if there is more than one person making the plans. There is even a special grand gathering phone number to call for assistance in making changes to reservations or dining reservations as well.

It has been really easy for us. I hope this helps.

oh, one other thing... we are also sharing a photo pass. This is not specifically for a grand gathering, but it is a good thing for us with a larger group. Everyone's pictures will be on one photo pass account and we can view/print the ones we are interested in. It made this a very affordable option for us. We just have to wait until the last person is home from their trip (we are overlapping dates, but arriving and leaving on different days) and then load all of the card numbers on our one account. We pre-paid for it so it's even a better deal.

We have gone as a Grand Gathering. We had rooms next to each other. It might depend on how many rooms you need. You don't have to participate in other things if you don't want to. We did the Illuminations Dinner and enjoyed it.

We to are a GG and at this point I do not believe we are planning on doing any of the official GG extra's. Have a great time!!!

I was under the impression that if you prepay for the photopass, you can not combine multiple photopass cards. Can anyone verify this?
