We are going with a magical gathering party of 8 to wdw in may. We are not doing the disney dining plan. What would be the easiet way as far as paying for dinner every night.? Should we all just contribut 50 dollars a day for all our food and beverages have one person be in charge of the $$$ and then have that person pay the bill.

or just split the bill when the check comes. Most of use are use to not bringing extra money with us into the park and would rather just have the kttw and some cash on us, but not alot

any thoughts..what do you do with a big group and splitting the bill. I dont want to have to sit at the table and do it, so designating someone to have all the $$$ before hand might be a better idea. and Im sure handing the waitor or waitress 8 kttw to charge it on will not be appreciated

and i just want to clarify that we are all family and will not sit there and say "i had this or " i had that" we are all willing to spilt it equally regardless of what anyone may have had to drink or eat..so no families quarrels about that here. We all go to dinner all the time and split the bill it is never a problem, we just want to avoid carrying extra cash around the park if we dont have too.

one more question. If we were just going to designate a $ amount for food and snacks throughout the day how much should we allote for. Let's say we were to do 2 ts (lunch or dinner) and some snacks throughout the day..How much would you think (generally) it would be per person.

any thoughts? what do you do?

If everyone is family and not overly intense when it comes to spliting checks and such - I would suggest creating a kitty for the entire trip for TS meals only.
Pick an amount per family/person based on where you want to go (you can find menus on allearsnet.com) and put it all together in one pool.

If you don't want to have someone keep track of the money or carry it around the entrie trip then I suggest you get one of those pre-paid gift credit cards (I know Am Ex does it). For example you decide on $200 per person for the trip - that's a $1,600 pre-paid credit card. Everytime you go to a TS meal you use the credit card for meal and tip and everything. When you get your receipt it will tell you how much you have left on the card so you can keep track of your spending. If at the end of the trip there is any money left over you split it 8 ways and use the card to buy everyone a momento from the trip.

As far as snacks and counter service meals go, I don't think you need to worry since eveyrone can pay for their own food this way. If you want a snack just buytit for yourself at the cart. When you go to a CS everyone can order their meal and pay for it seperately. It's only for TS meals that you need to figure out what to do since seperate checks can be a pain for the waiter (though you can request it).

Wendy that is an excellent suggestion! thank you so much! :goodvibes

You might also want to take a look at Deb's site. She has all the menus listed along with pricing, so that should give you a pretty solid figure to work with. Have a fantastic time! :goodvibes

You can ask your server for separate checks at TS restaurants. Last April, we were a group of 9, one family of 5 and one family of 4. We always asked the server for separate checks and it was never a problem. That way, each family could use a credit card or room key to pay for their meal (since we also don't carry much cash to the parks).
