1. I want to try and book the grand gathering event at epcot to watch illuminations. Do I call the dining reservation telephone # to book?

2. Someone told me you have to belong to the Disney Meal Plan to be eligible for a grand gathering event. Is that true?

3. Has anyone attended the grand gathering meal at Animal Kingdom?

Thanks for your help.

When we did our grand gathering we contacted the grand gathering people. Everyone will need the Grand gathering number when they call in to book their reservations (unless you are calling in and paying for everyone). When we did it, we paid one person and she called in all the reservations.

No, you don't have to be on the meal plan to do a grand gathering. Magical or grand gatherings are based on the number of people in your group (8 or more was magical and 15 or more was grand, I think). I haven't even seen anything posted where you can use the plan credits for GG events.

We did the AK event and our only disappointment was that the safari vehicles didn't "stop" but they did hesitate a bit longer than the regular ride. I have seen posts though where the vehicles actually did stop. The food, however, was excellent. We had someone with a food allergy and the chef actually came out to talk to him.

We would probably do this again and in fact, may, since we're doing another grand gathering in late Oct.

You must be a Grand Gathering, which means you must be traveling with a group of at least eight people staying at Disney Resorts. All of the eight must be at least three years old. It can be either relatives or friends. If the group has more than eight people, at least 80% must be staying at a Disney Resort. Also, for each GG event you attend, you must have at least eight people attending and of those at least 80% must be staying at a Disney Resort.

Once you have your group you are assigned a GG number, and all reservations and events are tied to that number. You will be given a special phone number to call for all meal and event reservations for the group.

Everyone does not have to go to everything, but any reservation for fewer than eight people will go through the regular Dining or Tour reservations.

Would you have the days the GG events are scheduled? I am trying to plan a October trip and I cannot find any dates. Thank you.
