With the new Dining promotion, GRAND FLORIDIAN is actually coming in cheaper than the yacht club! Would you choose standard GRAND FLORIDIAN room over club level at yacht club? I love both resorts. I have been to them both, but have never stayed club level at yacht.

I have stayed at both. We have stayed at YC almost every trip for at least 20 years, GF RPC 4 times I think. GF is definitely more impressive & better experience IMO. It’s also usually considerably more that YC. I like to do a split stay & use the GF portion to relax & enjoy the resort & CL more. YC‘s food is very good, but GF has more options, especially for the midday snacks. GF had the soup back midday while YC has only crudite, cookies & packaged snacks. YC lounge is small with not much of a view & tables can be full at prime breakfast & app times.

Personally as much as I love YC, I’d pick GF RPC if it was less expensive without a second thought. If for no other reason than that just never happens. Just making sure, you know there is construction going on at GF, right? And you won’t be upset about disrupted views or walking past construction walls. That’s probably why the price is so good.

And with all the options in the lounge, will you eat in other places enough to spend the included gift card?

I would, too, if not for the cautions you added below. 😁

All of these are why I wouldn't consider booking GF RPC currently. Sugar Loaf might not be an issue, unless that's the building undergoing refurb at the time the OP is considering.

As the OP may not know, the RPC lounge is fully open to the main building lobby, not an enclosed room like some other CL lounges. It's like gallery seating lining the lobby with a big alcove where the serving area is. There are tables for guests near the serving area and along the gallery as well.

It's subject to lots of noise from the lobby drifting upward and certainly could catch noise from nearby construction.

We still sometimes talk about treating ourselves to a night or two there since buying into VGF. VGF is a very nice room but nowhere near as "pamper me silly" as the gorgeous RPC. We never stayed in Sugar Loaf, but I've seen others compare it less favorably because the RPC is that posh.

Currently only RPC is club level, Sugar Loaf is no longer bookable as club level. There has been no info on if it will returning to Sugar Loaf at all.

Oh wait!!! Did I misread the OP? Are you deciding between club level rooms at both resorts or a regular GF room vs a club level at YC? I wouldn’t be staying in a regular room at GF right now with all the construction, if that’s the question. But I had a horrible experience when CBR was a major construction site that had the main building down. So I’m kind of biased because of that. And because as I said, YC CL is our favorite room category. If we want to try another resort we’ll do a split stay so we can still get a few YC days in. Sorry for the confusion if I misread your OP.

Huh. Clearly didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

It's good news as far as GF CL is concerned, imo, as many as I've seen remark they'd stayed in both the RPC and Sugar Loaf and found the RPC much more comfy and posh. We considered SL a few times and decided the lounge looked cramped. That the food variety wasn't as extensive decided it for us, oinking out being a priority.

Standard GF room? I didn't get that that was the choice. Duh!

Ohhhhh, no question, then. Do YC CL unless you really, REALLY would rather be at the GF and thus don't care that you may be detouring around construction. There'll still be construction in August, I'm betting. I've seen into next year being estimated.
