Anyone purchase at VGF today?

Was there any specials other than the $145.00 a point? Did they give you the previous UY plus the current like they typically do. Was there any additional points off or anything?

Also other than getting the points, is there any inaugural things for people who purchase first with the resort? I'm trying to see if it's worth adding on an additional 50 points to my points collection. I currently have 160 with AKL.

From what I've read there are no specials or incentives and probably no need for any.

Current members can buy now for $145/point, and it'll go up to $150 when it opens to the public June 19th. Also doesn't look like there is any special items or acknowledgement for those considered "founding" members.

I am pretty sure u get last years points too since I have heard of people banking them already? My use year is December so I will probably bank mine too when I buy tomorrow

They are only giving 2013 points if you have an April use year because that's when the resort was declared, April 1. With a December use year, you will get December 2013 points (which of course you could borrow for a trip, prior to that).

there are no last year's pts as there was no VGF last year. seriously, the pts are based on the timeshare itself.

Our guide clarified that you only get points going forward for VGF (2013 points).

We have a June use year and got points that we will bank right away. I will know for sure tomorrow when I can access my account. Folks will squabble about whether these are really "free" but my guide told me i will be getting last year (2012) points and will be getting my next allotment of 2013 points on June 1. We probably would have waited to buy, but if we bought on June 1 then we wouldn't have gotten the extra points and would have only gotten the 2013 points.

I don't understand how you could get June 2012 points since the resort did not exist then. That is not legal per what has been posted here regarding FL timeshare laws. Or are you speaking of a different resort not VGF?

I am pretty sure that you don't get 2012 points. I have a June UY and have already received my points beginning June 2013

You will not get 2012 points if you bought VGF (You will only get 2012 points if you buy another resort before 6/1/2013).

If your guide said that you would get 2012 points for VGF, he was either mistaken or you misunderstood.

You will get 2013 points and all points going forward.

Sorry for the confusion. You are correct about the 2012 points. i talked to my guide and he was referring to purchasing Aulani as a comparison only. I was on the fence about whether to add more there or to get VGF points, but in the end settled on VGF.

Yeah, I'm interested to hear what happens on this as well. This isn't even possible, as the resort did not exist in June 2012.

My guide told me yesterday that April is the first UY in 2013 that will be receiving 2013 points. There are no 2012 points.

So for a June UY you will be receiving June 2013 points, in June.

ETA... Nevermind... saw that you clarified.

Does anyone know when Californians can purchase into the GFV? My agent called me yesterday just to tell me he couldn't discuss anything with me!:confused3

My salesperson is based in California and couldn't talk to me about the new resort. But he put me in touch with a salesperson in Florida who could discuss it with me.

It's Official! I am the proud owner of 90 points at Villas Grand Floridian! :cool1::cool1: I have the same use year, September and so excited! Since my guide is based in California she couldn't talk to me about it she put me in contact with an awesome guide in Florida.

Congratulations and welcome home neighbor!

We have 320 points at AKV. What is the least amount of points I can purchase at VGF to be considered one of my homes?

Is it a year out that you can schedule at your home resort? If I bought the least amount of points, am I able to use my AKV to get us in a bigger room, even if I only have the least amount of points at VGF?

25 points if paying cash, 50 if financing.

if you buy a 25 pt VGF contract, then you would have 2 home resorts. but it is the POINTS that have the 11 month priority, not you as the owner.

so at 11 months out, you would still only have access to the 25 pts from your VGF contract for booking VGF (and only your AKV pts for booking AKV at 11 months). at 11 months out, the contracts are separate for booking purposes.

there is no way to use pts from resort A (AKV for example) to book resort B (VGF for example) at 11 months out. that would be unfair to owners at resort B.

at 7 months out, you can combine VGF pts with AKV pts to book whatever is still available.

At 11 months you need to wn the number of VGF points you need for the stay you are booking.

At 7 months you can combine in your AKV and take your chances on availability but the general consensus is chances at 7 months will not be good due to the small size of the resort and the high cost of points. People who buy there are likely to be buying primarily to stay there.

Thanks for the detailed response. I suppose we don't need that many more points, to be able to stay an entire week in a larger room, with only VGF points. I guess I will be one of the people at 7 months out, vying for a room.

I see you are in Winston-Salem. My parents are in Kernersville. :)
