I am thinking of a quick,no park, trip in mid-September, 2023. Both GF and YC have pretty good deals on Priceline. GF has never really been on my radar, but for $444 a night it’s a few dollars cheaper than YC and caught my attention.

I plan on getting some work done, exploring hotels and Disney Springs. I’ll be traveling alone. I’d like a guaranteed balcony with a nice view.

I know that GF is undergoing refurbishment. A

Grand feels a little stuffy to me but it is beautiful. You'd also have the monorail to resort hop or easily access different dining options. I'd probably opt for that, especially if you've never stayed there.

Personally not a huge fan of either. We just stayed at GF the refurb is at the main building so you should not notice any disruption especially next year. The grounds at GF are nice the CS is very nice with a good amount of seating it would be easy to get to any resort on the monorail. GF would also have a lot of nice areas to work and you can see the MK fireworks. DS is never easy from MK area resorts. GF does have easy access to MK to go back and forth to other resorts. YC is much easier to get to DS not a fan of the lobby or grounds (there is very little) although walking around crescent lake is nice. You will also have access to the sky liner when it is running to visit some other resorts but difficult to get to others as it means a trip to DS and back or to HS and if the sky liner is not running a walk. Make a list of the resorts you want to see and how long you will spend in DS to see which is a better fit.

I’ve stayed at both
Grand Floridian 100%
Visiting the Grand Floridian is very different from staying there. It really feels special. Yacht Club was nice but didn’t have that “magic” to it. The seven seas lagoon area is stunning. And the food is really good at the Grand.

Also there is something special about the glistening clean white balconies and the blue sky with palm trees around that make the balcony views really beautiful. it makes you feel happy.

GF has some absolutely brutal reviews about sound. I love GF, but it is certainly showing its age, especially in sound.

BUT, YC has almost no rooms with decent views, you can see why from a map. At least GF has a view of something. You have to decide what you value more.

For $444, I'd pick the cheaper option. And GF has great food, including the quick service.

Among others, I’ve been a front office CM at both. For what you want I’d opt for th GF. But when asked what’s my favorite Disney resort, it’s the WL.

I don’t think you can make a wrong decision here, but I lean GF for what you describe. So long as you are OK with work occurring in/around the main building. GF is nice for no parks as it’s a relaxing resort and you can watch fireworks nightly (maybe even MNSSHP fireworks if your trip overlaps with a party night), plus the monorail opens up so many other amenities. GF is one of the few resorts where the leisure pool is actually just as good, if not better, than the feature pool and it’s big. Your room will be freshly renovated. It’s the better adult staycation type of resort, IMO.

Unless you are planning a lot of pool time (maybe?) or heading to an Epcot festival (definite no) I doubt YC has much on GF. I'd choose GF.

I’d choose GF as well for that price.
And you could watch the EWP as well as fireworks from there!
