grand floridian or polynesian?

Hi , I have booked a surpize trip for my family dec.2003, At the moment I have 4 nights at the AKL concierge, and then a hop over to the GF main building concierge for 6 nights, I am wondering if we should switch to the Polynesian concierge, instead of the GF, as I have been reading so many posts of displeased guests. Is the Polynesian concierge better?/ We live in hawaii so I was going for a different feel , but maybe I should save a little$$ and do Polynesian. HELP!

Hi Liz!

I think you should decide based on your preference of theming.
The RPC is gorgeous, & elegant, most of the views are really nice to.
The Polynesian concierge is being redone this summer, so by your tip the Hawaii longhouse will be all new. The Polynesian concierge is very popular amongst families. The lagoon view rooms offer the best views at WDW, of any resort...

The Polynesian does not have any hottubs though....

Everyone has different expereinces. Many people have great expereinces at the GF, others do not, and the same goes for the Polynesian concierge....

You should decide based on where you feel your family will have a better time!

Since you live in Hawaii I would definitely go with the GF!

I would have to agree with the GF. I get the feeling the Polynesian can not be fully appreciated in the colder months when you can not just sit out on the beach at night or hang out around the grounds. I think those who have been to the Polynesian in the summer have fun visiting it in the winter but for first time visitors I don’t think they fully enjoy the Polynesian when the weather does not match the tropical surroundings. I am not a huge fan of the GF and I would not stay there myself but out of the two in December I would go GF. I think the place I would stay in the winter would be the Yacht Club or WL.

You didn't ask but I'm going to offer this up anyway. If I lived in Hawaii, I would want something totally different. Unless the monorail is a total must I would suggest considering the Wilderness Lodge. Totally different. Also, the most stunning of the properties when decorated for Christmas. GF is beautiful as well. Seeing that you are going in December if you must keep your choices between Poly and GF the GF has a much nicer Christmas theme.

thanks everyone for the input!! Yes we want to stay at a monorail resort the last leg of the trip , as my daughter is a magic kingdom lover!!

I have stayed at the GF last summer and as a matter of fact we are going to the GF again in the RPC. I haven't stayed at the polynesian concerige but i hear very good things. BUT I don't think you can beat the GF. The GF has a great atmosphere, the music is fantastic. We love it. The GF is my favorite resort by far but that's just my opinion. The pool isn't that great they have two pools but i hear the new pool at Poly is great. The Poly and the GF are both on the monirail. It's just my opinion but i would pick the GF over Poly any day. Remember just my opinion!!!
