Grand Floridian Cafe or The Plaza

I’m stuck on whether or not we should have lunch at the GFC or the Plaza on one of our MK days. Both menus look awesome and I’ve never been to either so which would you choose and why?

I'm looking to try both restaurants on my next trip, too! Currently looking to do breakfast at GFC one day and lunch or dinner at The Plaza on our MK day.

On previous trips, we've taken the monorail to the Poly for early dinners on our MK day, and I really appreciated the relaxing break before finishing the night in the park!

We enjoy both- but prefer GFC hands down over the Plaza. Few reasons: Food is much better and higher quality, service has been better, its a nice break from the park, and they are usually one time. Plaza is a v small space and its gets backed up very quickly. Plaza is like an hard to get quick service for lunch- the food is a tad bit better than CHH or Pecos Bill or BOG- but GFC is a really nice break. You wont be disappointed.

If you don't mind leaving the park, I would do GF Cafe. GF is gorgeous and the food at GF Cafe is quite good. I like Plaza. It isn't great, but it's certainly convenient. If you need a break from the parks, GF Cafe is the way to go.

Really, really enjoyed breakfast at GF cafe this past March. Solid food quality and service, plus lovely decor. That said, there isn't any particular draw to the place which would lead me to want to waste park time getting there and back.

GFC is a lovely respite with good food and service--love the lobster thermidor burger!

Good news is both are great so you really can't go wrong I think it just depends on how much time you want to be out of the park. The Plaza is usually a pretty quick meal so you can get right back to it. To get over to the Grand Floridian, have lunch, and then get back I'd say you are probably looking at about 2 hours

If you are looking for a respite from the park go to the GFC. The atmosphere is tranquil, and the Grand is lovely. If you were just lookign for a short break, choose the Plaza.

As other have said the food is good at GFC. It is a great respite from the hustle and bustle of the park especially when it is warm.

We like both.
GFC is more relaxing & feels like more of a break from the MK.
The Plaza is more convenient & has a busier feel.
You can’t go wrong either way.

Since we have 10 days and 6 of those being MK after lunch we’re going back to AKL so it looks like GFC since we won’t need to deal with getting back to the park.

Whew! That's good to hear. It seems like most people prefer GFC, which I've always enjoyed. However, I wanted to try the Plaza next time, and I've been so excited I got an ADR there. Reading here made me start to second-guess my decision.

Having done both, I would say this is more about apples to oranges than it is about which might be better.

We just ate at the Plaza at the end of June and we were really looking forward to it. We totally did not enjoy it. The food was very "quick service" like. We got the bottomless milkshakes with our meals and they were all milk. It was like drinking chocolate milk. We will not return.

Hands down GFC. Our opinion: better quality and variety of food, huge difference of lovely atmosphere and better service. We’ve been to the Plaza once and GFC about 5 times. Oh and not a huge deal but GFC has onsite bathroom whereas at Plaza you’ll have to exit outside to use the nearby bathroom.

My favorite meal at GFC is their lobster burger. It’s my favorite burger in the whole property. Lobster meat on top of a juicy burger....yum!!!!
