Grand Cayman-Turtle Place and He**

Upcoming (finally) Cruise and we are stopping in Grand Cayman. We didn’t see anything about excursions, through Disney, that interested us. We would like to do the Turtle place and MAYBE He**. 1) anyone have experience? If so, are you able to do both? Our time there says 7:30-3:30. We figured to be back onboard at 2:30. 2) what transportation was used and how expensive was it? Any safety concerns? 3) I know it’s a “Tender” but because of the possibility of distance walking, we will have someone who will be using a “folding scooter “. Will that make a difference on transportation/locations?

Also, interested in shopping if possible. Honestly, is it possible to do those items? I understand time constraints and was just curious if anyone has any experience.

We did that on one of our cruises (several years ago), but it was a ship's excursion. I don't see why you couldn't DIY, if it's no longer offered. It's not really walkable from the tender dock, though. You'd need to do a taxi/public transportation.

We did the turtle center and Hell on our own in June. (Check out my trip signature for pics.) We used the public bus (small vans). The bus depot is 2 blocks from port. Yellow bus/WB1 is the route we took, buses run that route every 5-10 minutes. $2.50 USD/person every time you get off the bus. So we spent a total of $30 for our family of 4. Masks required on the public bus. Felt very safe on Grand Cayman. Our bus ride back from Hell had lots of stops to pick up/drop off locals from work shifts, still felt completely safe. We were only onshore for 3 hrs. Tender line to get off the ship was huge, even after waiting an hour for it to clear out...but it was also a later arrival (10:30?am) so everyone was trying to get off at the same time.

No idea if a folding scooter would work with the public bus... probably not, but maybe you could research it.

We did a tour that included a history drive around, the Turtle farm, and Hell. It was really awesome. I think it was through DCL as it was our first cruise.

We did the turtle farm at Grand Cayman on a Disney Cruise once. We took public transportation. When you get off the ship, walk past all the people offering you rides, then walk to the curb of the main street up ahead. There will be vans that you will see that offer cheap transportation. I don't remember the cost or what they said on them. But there were other locals waiting there as well. I honestly would skip the turtle farm. It was large concrete pools filled with turtles. It looked gross to me. We have since seen turtles in Hawaii in their natural habitat and there is no comparison. I imagine if they have a turtle farm on the island, that you can likely google which beach to find sea turtles, and just go to that beach and walk the beach. A quick google search says Spotts beach is famous for sea turtles.

Also at the time my youngest was probably 7, and there were huge iguana's at the turtle place and she was terrified of them.
