Grand Californian Villas Mid December at 7 Month. Crazy for even Considering?

I'm looking at taking a Disney vacation this Dec. to Disneyland. Right now, I would like 3 night in a studio at the Grand Californian Villas Dec. 10 - Dec 22. Am I crazy for even trying to get this reservation?

Second, how would a backup reservation in Orlando work? I only have enough point for one trip. If I book a room in Orlando, can I wait list for California and have the wait list cancel the Orlando reservation to make the California Reservation.

I'm planning on using South West Frequent Flyer Points so changing airfare shouldn't be a major expense.

We got a 1BR unit at the 7 month window for Dec 11-14, 2015. The 1BR is likely your best shot -- don't limit your choices to the studio unit.

3 nights anytime during those dates in Dec? It's not completely crazy but not a given either. You probably have an ok chance but if you consider a 1 BR it will be even better.

Thanks for the information. I only have a 60 point contract and this will most likely be a solo trip. So a 1BR is most likely not in the cards.
