We are planning on going to DL in the Spring. Is it worth the extra points to stay at the Grand Californian? Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Randy
Hi,
We stayed at Grand CA in March and it is wonderful. The resort is gorgeous and the CM's are great. We have stayed at Paradise Pier (when it was Pacific) many times and really like it, too. I like both, but Grand CA is more Disney, more magical.

Grand Californian is the first resort hotel in Anaheim that was Disney owned and Disney built from the start. Both the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier were owned by others before Disney bought them. Not that that lessens their quality or anything, just a point of reference. Plus from what I understand the Grand Californian set inside the park, where the others are across a street... Just food for though.
We've stayed at the "Paradise Pier" twice, which is really just a re-habed Disneyland Pacific Hotel, and I'd definitely go for the Grand Californian. There's nothing magical about the old Disneyland Pacific and I can't imagine that whatever they did gave it all that much magic. It was basically just an overpriced business hotel. Go for the magic and stay at the GC.
