I originally posted this over in Goofyfordisneys thread: HERE. But it's such a sweet deal I though you should all know about it!!!:thumbsup2

Check this out: I booked 6 nights at GCH with 4 8-day park hoppers for appx. $3750. Figure the 4 park hoppers go for appx. $750. that means for the 6 nights I'm only paying like $3000. BUT WAIT...

I didn't mention the 4 tickets to Mickeys Toontown morning madness those should be worth like $400...
And the preferred parade viewing I'd say it worth $75/person so that another $300...
The collectible pin and lanyards which must worth another $400...
Don't forget the collectible coin!!! Someday it will be worth $1000...
And the (?-free-?) Disney Visa backpack worth like $300!!!
Add those up and that's like $2400 worth of extras!!!

So $3000 - $2400 worth of extras and I'm only paying $600 to stay at GCH for 6 nights!!! That's only $100/night to stay at the Grand Californian Hotel with a theme park view!!! :thumbsup2

Boy those extras really make things affordable!!! :cool1:

don't forget the "free" amenities you get for staying at GCH. Shampoo, conditioner, soap, "rental" of a dvd player...

or the disneyland maps i've seen for sale on ebay !:cheer2:

I am a newbie starting to research our trip to DL next year, can you please explain to me how you get those extras? I am VERY interested!:thumbsup2

And by the way, how cool that you figured out such a great savings for yourself!:woohoo:

Hi Princess Vija & welcome to the DL Board. :)

When you book a package through the Walt Disney Travel Company, or an agency that uses the Walt Disney Travel Company, package components include the above items.

If you pay for your package with your Disney Visa, then you also get preferred parade viewing & the Disney Visa backpack (at no extra cost).

Though I'd ask Bumbershoot if she thinks that Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness is worth $100 per person.

Also, personally, I wouldn't value the pins & lanyards at $100 per person, or the backpack at $300.

But everyone values their experiences and souvenirs at different costs. :)

Wait, the package from Walt Disney Travel Company includes preferred Parade Viewing now?

I absolutely can't remember that from our trip last year.

I detected a hint of humor/sarcasm in the OP :)

Yes, so did I;)

My lanyard and pins didn't appear to be worth all that much! In fact, my friend pointed out that the lanyard we got with our WDTC package for GCH was not even as good as the ones sold in the stores there!

That is what the "free" extras are for, to sweeten the pot and make everything seem like a better deal. Sales 101.

Definitely sarcasm, the OP is kinda joking.

Enjoy your trip, it sounds like it will be an great vacation!

Wait, wait, that collectible coin is going to be worth $1000 someday?

Wow, I better dig it out of the back of the junk drawer, I guess.;)

lol i so sinced the ops sarcasam.
i would never say the lanyard and 1 pin was worth 400 the prefured setting umm maybe 75 all togetehr lol

but for the one who asked you get alot of extras going though the disney company tho this year ive found tickets cheaper and hotles by them selfs and stuff.. so dont buy the package just for the extras its really not worth it but hay thats just my opinion..

lol to the op tho

The backpack is probably only worth about $20 and the pins and lanyards about $25. Not sure where you got the inflated prices.

WOW! I'm heading to eBay right now with my stuff :thumbsup2 ....what! what do you mean Sy was just kidding...no way! ;)

Maybe when you tell her you get to go to Napa Rose for dinner without the kiddos - then it will ALL be worth it :thumbsup2

Though I'd ask Bumbershoot if she thinks that Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness is worth $100 per person.

Who, me? :rolleyes1

Yeah, um, no...not even worth putting my name on a thread asking for FREE vouchers...and that's after we were "family of the day" for ToonTown.

However, when we have more kids, we'll probably get a package here and there so they can get the same experience DS did (now if only we can get future kids to run towards Mickey then veer off towards the trolley, leaving Mickey in the lurch, and making such a funny cute scene that the choosers for the family of the day notice them...). In fact I just found out through mousesavers that AP holders can get package deals ONsite, including things like MTTMM, which is definitely interesting!

Anyway, I was going to post all that seriously, but continued to read the OP and realized that Sy was just being silly.

Sy, don't do that! Even I, an affirmed "don't need onsite" person, would JUMP at $100 for GCH.

But Sy just said they will be worth those prices someday.

You've got to hold on to all that junk... oops, I mean all those valuable extras and wait for the collector's value to kick in.

Actually, I sure wish I had done it with a few Disney Dollars. If only there were a way to figure out which ones are going to be the really valuable ones in advance.
:confused3

Good job on that slam dunk deal on the GC package OP. :thumbsup2

lol have fun any ways and make sure to like spoiler her lol or plan some nice romantic thing at nappa rose or soemthing extra lol

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for the info!:thumbsup2

Ok, thanks for the info. It is good to know the package isn't worth it. I was more interested in the preferred parade spot than anything else.

What????? I have to justify the price to my CFO (DW) somehow... She's probably not gonna buy it eh?

DOH!!!!

Totally didn't catch that! Count that on extremely little sleep as I was reading Harry Potter - Deathly Hallows for the second time. I read it last year and didn't remember half the stuff that happened. Finished in 3 days -- it was either that or sleep, and I HAD to finish the book. lol

So, my mind wasn't fully in the "here" world, but rather on muggles and snargles, apparating, and stuff like that, so Sy's post went right over my head...
