A cast member friend of mine is using one of their vouchers to allow me to stay at the Grand Californian for a fabulous price! (Yeah for me!!!).

When I made the reservation this morning, the reservationist asked me what view I want to request - I have the following views available:

Standard view (yuck)
Downtown Disney view
Pool View
Park View (DCA)

I'll be going to Disneyland each night that fireworks are showing, so I don't need to have a view of the fireworks.

I'm going to be there for 7 nights, mostly for business so would like a quieter area of the resort. I chose a view of the Wilderness Recreation area at DCA. So....please advise:

1. Is this a good view? I don't want to sit on my balcony and see the monorail going past my room.

2. If not this view - suggestions on a view?

I've been looking online for a map of the hotel and can't find anything, so if anyone has any suggestions, I'm ready for them. This trip is planned March 8-15.

Thanks much,
Diane

<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color=navy>Sounds like you have a great view! You'll have a view of Grizzly River Rapids, etc., at DCA -- the monorail runs through the inner courtyard. We were above Downtown Disney at Christmas & w/the windows open could hear the people and music. With the windows closed, we couldn't hear anything.

I liked the city view - when we had it (room 4101) we were looking out to the DL & Paradise Pier hotels, the monorail, and a tiny bit of Downtown Disney - didn't mind it in the least.

Enjoy your stay - I think you'll love it there. :)

Thanks Mary Jo!

I've stayed in the Disneyland Hotel and Paradise Pier, so I am saving the best for last! I usually stay (and love!) the Hilton Anaheim, but since I'm soon moving to a job with no travel my friends are doing this for me.

When I'm back at the parks next week I might stop into the hotel and ask to see a hotel map.

I've had a room with the same view. 4th floor near the hotel's entrance to the park. Wow. This was wonderful. Really nice view, and you got to hear the atmosphere music at night. (if you had your sliding door open) and it was so peacueful and relaxing. One thing we couldn't get over (in a good way) was how quiet the room was. You should be quite pleased.

That hotel and view just sounds so inviting. I'm wondering if I made a mistake making reservations at the PP Hotel?

How about the Paradise Pier Hotel? Any suggestions on views or levels to stay on? Also, does anyone know in double rooms, is there a sleeper sofa, and if so is it very comfortable?

My stay at Paradise Pier was on the 6th floor with a view of the park. I saw well into DCA and the Paradise Pier section of the park. I wouldn't pay the additional money for a room on a higher floor. I believe the cost changes from floor 6 to 7.

I had a double room and the room was spacious for me, however it was only me. As with all hotel rooms, the more people you put in them, the smaller it seems. The bathroom was set up with a standing shower (they also have bathtub/showers). The toilet was separated by a door and the closet was in the bathroom. The sink area was large and could easily fit 2 people getting ready at the same time.

I had 2 complaints - only 1 with the room, the second was with the idiots who stayed next to me. The shower head connection is about 6' off the ground so when you put the connector pipe and shower head on it, it ends up being about 5'6" off the ground - I'm taller than than and I had to squat slightly to wash my hair.

The second complaint was with the idiots next to me who let their children play in the entry way to our room, even with the 'do not disturb' sign on my door. The kids yelled, knocked on my door and screamed. I called guest service and the parents were upset when they were told to bring their kids in their room. I 'accidently' slammed my door very loud (twice) the next morning when I had to leave at 5:00am.

I think you will enjoy Paradise Pier - it was a fun hotel!

Thank you goofydiane for that info. :D
The agent told us the rooms sleep 5 people, so when we booked we figured that 3 Adults and 2 Children would fit comfortably, but from what I've heard from these boards so far is that we may be a little cozier than we originally thought. Oh well! I'm just so excited to be going to DLand (it's been since 1988) that I won't be complaining much, but when we get back I probably will be glad to be back in my own home. We are spending 6 days/5 nights there in hopes to make it a little more relaxing instead of rushing through everything. Also, very good point to remember to be curtious to others staying in the hotels. Some people get so pushy, I'm just looking for a nice enjoyable time with my family. Thanks for the reply and the info.

One more question (sorry)
could you see the fireworks from your room?

During the slower times of the year they only have the fireworks Friday and Saturday. When I'm there I am always in the park for the fireworks. You might have been able to see them from the room, I can't say a positive yes.

When you check in, ask for a park view room if they are available, you will be able to look at the lights of Paradise Pier after the park closes. They use the park lights to clean, so they stay on all night long - really cool when I was waking up early every morning for work to have the park lights on.
