I know I've seen this mentioned but couldn't find any info from those DVC folks that have tried this, what did you do while kids were on the cruise? We've seen the kids having fun on this and thought our DGD's 4 and 8 would love it, but what will the rest of us do?
4 adults 2 teens (may choose to stay at OKW pool) and 1 2.5 yro GS. We know we can hang out at GF but any other good suggestions?
Thanks!

My DH and I had a very nice long brunch at Kona.

The rest of the party could go to the MK, its right there. You could meet up around lunchtime.

We're headed there in June and just booked this trip. While I'll be attending a business conference, my wife has plans to book something at the GF's spa while the kids are out on their pirate: cruise. (She seemed real excited about that since it will be a day after we arrive from 20 hours of driving!!!)

My SIL and I dropped the kids off at the Pirate Cruise and then mosied over to the DVC desk (I wanted to show SIL pics of other resorts). We had originally planned to pool-hop at the GF, or maybe do a spa treatment, but elected instead to just have an excellent, leisurely brunch in the GF Cafe! Our DHs stayed back at BW and had a leisurely morning sans kids or wives (well, sort of... they had a 8 mos old baby with them, but he was good as gold, so not a big issue there!) After our brunch (I had great french toast; I think she had an omelet or maybe eggs benedict?) SIL and I wandered out towards the marina, sat under a shady umbrella and waited for the "ship to come in". You won't want to miss that, BTW -- it's so cute to hear them coming back, singing with gusto!

Personally, even though they gave me a pager and I had a cell phone on me, I just didn't want to stray too far, but maybe that's just me. I had all 3 of my kids on the boat (ages 4 , 8, and 9) so I figured my "odds" of having any issues were statistically higher, perhaps! It's less time than you think, by the time you finally wave them off and leave the marina area to when you're supposed to come back. And as always, time flies...

Wish I had some of that French toast and coffee right now...

It seems like brunch is the answer. We did want to stay close by and now I know for sure that waiting for them to arrive will be fun also.
Thanks again to all.

I started chatting with a few fellow parents who just so happened to be on the DIS. before you know it we decided to have tea and such at the grand floridian cafe, sometimes no plans can lead to wonderful things :)

Our little pirate is all set to go on this in september!
I think we are going to hop on the monorail, head to the poly and grab some tonga toast and pineapple macadamia nut pancakes at the kona cafe!!!!

You could also just explore the GF while there!

Another morning, we are going to be in almost the same situation while my dd and I are at the my dis girl perfectly princess tea at the GF... that will leave the 3 guys to find something to do... so i think they are hopping on the monorail and heading to MK or epcot... then we will meet up when all is said and done! :)

We cant wait!

The first time we did this we just explored the GF since we had never stayed there at the time. The 2nd time was a few years later when we had stayed at the GF, that time we had brunch at the GF Cafe. My husband and I thought of hopping on the monorail or boat and heading over to MK, but there really isn't that much time.
