One of our long-time employees is having a college graduation party for her DD. The DD also worked for us for a few years during high school, so we also know her well. The kicker is that the invitation is for her and her boyfriend (he may be her fiance) who is graduating from the same college. So, my question is: Do we have to give two gifts - one to this guy we don't even know? Or do we just give a gift to the DD and a card to at least acknowledge the guy? Any advice?? Not sure of the proper etiquette in this situation...

Wow! That's a hard one!

I'd probably do what you suggested. I'd give her a gift and him a card. If you're feeling generous, put $10 in the card for Mr. Stranger.

IMHO - and I go by common sense more than anything - I would do a gift for the DD, and a card for her boyfriend.
