My husband and I both will be graduating on May 11th. We have both been doing online school at 2 different schools. My school is close and I will be walking in the ceremony. My husband's school is only online and does not do a ceremony. I want to do a gift for him (on a budget) we are taking a small weekend trip. But I would like some ideas on meaningful gifts for him. We are both in our 40's with kids and jobs so picture frames and the normal trinkets for the person just starting out in the world gifts don't apply. But we have both worked VERY hard to get our degrees and I would like to give him some type of gift that would be meaningful to recognize the accomplishment. Thanks in advance for the help.

I am in school too, and work. I don't know about you, but want I would really like is something simple that I can relax and enjoy doing. Is there a hobby he would like to resume when he gets done? Does he garden or fish or enjoy bird watching (lol)? Something he has not had time for because of school? I would think along those lines and well done to both of you! It isn't easy.

A watch sounds good but he does not wear one any more uses his phone all of the time. I like the idea of the hobby. He loves cars and has not been able to work on his project car since we have been doing school. Still undecided but thanks for the ideas please keep them coming.

does he like a certain band that is going to playing anywhere near you ? you could give him concert tickets. or a sporting event. does he have a favorite wine?

Does not like concerts and we do not drink. I will check for sporting events. Maybe there will be a car show or cruise in but they usually make him sad that his project is still a project. Thanks for the suggests.

Take him away on a weekend vacation. Go to a BNB or cabin somewhere not to far away. If kids are old enough they could stay home alone, or you could get them to stay at a friend or family member's home for a few night. I would give you a few ideas if I new where you are and the farthest you would want t drive.

Hopefully you can find something on a budget. I have done several trips n a budget, and am even doing a WDW trip soon.

I'm graduating May 11 too! Congrats to all of us!!

I just took my final last night and when I came home, my DH and our four kids all greeted me at the door with cheers and a small gift. He and I are taking a long weekend trip to DC by ourselves and we are going to WDW with the kids this fall so he got tour books, chocolates and a book mark for me. The real gift from him is our DC trip but he wrote me such a sweet card. Sometimes it's the little things that I love more than anything else.

We are taking a weekend trip after graduation. Nothing fancy I got a trip deal from groupon. I like the idea of a card with some sweet things written inside. I just wanted some "something" that he could have to remember the moment and I am having a brain cramp and can not figure this out. I am the one who is already planning Christmas gifts and yet this I can't figure out.

Thanks for all of the ideas so far.

What about a 2013 minted coin or coin set? My dad gets them for us to commentate big events.

I was given an engraved pen. I always think of the person and reason why it was given when I use it. :) Not a big gift, but it does make me smile.

I also like a very nice pen or an engraved pen. I got one years ago and I still get compliments on it. I use it when going to client meetings.

1) I received a Sterling Silver Fountain Pen set (pen and pencil).
2) I have used the fountain pen continually for 43 years !
3) Until retirement, it never left my shirt pocket, except for use.
4) There are lots to chose from.
