Grace period for price increase

After lurking around here for a couple years and asking an occasional question, I decided it was high time to contact DVC and get some info.

While I was talking to my guide, she mentioned that the price would increase on June 2, but since I was calling today that they could honor the current price as long as I make a decision and submit a deposit by July 1.

I'm not sure if we will join, and even if we do, we may choose a resale, but I thought that this twist was interesting and hadn't seen it mentioned here before. I don't know if it is related to the fact that I have never contacted them before, if it's because we aren't current owners, or if it is the norm and I just didn't realize it.

Now, if I can just contain my excitement until the video comes.

While one is supposed to return a purchase contract within 2 weeks, my guide informed me that they will leave it open for a couple of months before voiding the deal- I'll let you know when I hear from her exactly how long that is.

Thanks for the info, but I'm still unsure of this.

I have not asked for a contract or expressed any willingness to purchase. I just called and asked them to send information about the club. She gave me an overview of points and trades and then stated an entry price of $11,250. She said that this price would increase on June 2, but that if I decided to purchase before July 1 they would honor the price. I guess this is meant to give me time to receive the information and ask questions.

Should I trust this? I have not heard anyone else mention a grace period on price increases before. After all, I don't have anything in writing. If I do decide to purchase direct from Disney, I want to get the lower price for sure.

I would trust and believe what they told you. If you buy from Disney at this point you will most likely deal with the same guide who sent you the info. These people are all licensed real estate agents and are usually very professional (other than the occasional little white lie - like the 11 month reservation priority isn't an issue). That person should honor what they told you. If they weren't able to they wouldn't say so. That would be quite a limb for the guide to go out on if it wasn't policy. Perhaps if you dealt with a different guide you could have a problem.

Along these same lines, aren't new members offered a better initial interest rate if they commit within a given time period? Does anyone know what this rate is now?

I'm not sure about your situation Mouse ears, but I confirmed with my guide that I have 60 days to execute the contract. I put a deposit down and paperwork is on the way. I would reconfirm with the guide whether she meant you had until July 1 period or if it only applies if you've made a deposit and started a contract.

I would go ahead and make the dpeosit and get the paperwork coming. What someone told yo over the phone, etc. does not hold up well after the fact. This holding the price until July1 sounds very strange to me. I can tell you that the free night incentive did not "holdover" for even 24 hours...
