It's a "Celebration of all families", they had someone talk about gay adoption options and then awarded scholarships to four at risk students. It was put on by a Gay church. We got fed pulled pork sandwiches with trimmings and played a short opening plus a concert at the end. The reason I said stupid is that there were about as many people in the audience as the band. And we were a tiny band.

That's an important topic. What a shame the turnout didn't match the topic.

We're supposed to be heading out for a family do in about 40 minutes. I better go get ready. Been 'resting' in bed. So far, it's been worth it. My cough has been so much better.

Catch you all later.

The church putting it on is new and very small. We played for an event of theirs last year and we felt like it was a waste of time there were so few people. Thus was a little better. And the food was good. They let the band eat first! :thumbsup2

Good evening everyone. This is the longest Saturday I've had in a long time.

Improoved a bit over the first game. It was really cold. Almost all the kids played in jackets and pulled there jerseys over them. I wish i wore long underwear since I was basically standing around for 3 hours. Didn't snow or rain.

There I found out he is invited to a birthday party. So after playing around a bit after the game we got some lunch and then to a store to get a gift.

He was dying to get pizza for lunch. When we sit down he wants soda and I told him he needs to reydrate after playing soccer. So he gets water drinks a lot and then had a tiny bit of his lunch because he was full.

Got the gift which meant 15 minutes of looking at Legos on the side.

Then right when we got home I realized it was time to pick up our produce. So right back in the car. Went there and ended up at the end of a giant line. I was right behind the soccer coach and her kids were in the park across the street so DS was begging to go to the park. So this quick trip took about 45 minutes.

Then finally home about 4 pm. So a little break before making dinner.

I say ditch the live TR and spend some time ALONE at the parks! :thumbsup2

My sentiments exactly. Enjoy your trip. We'd love to read about it after you get back.

My fingers are psychic. :rotfl:
Yes, they are!

Must be. I keep getting locked out around 10:15 PM every night.

Happened to me three nights in a row, so I plan to log out on my own at 10pm tonight. DH is going to some event that I had no interest in attending or finding a sitter for, so I may be in later than that.

hiring scooters at Wdw costs half as much as buying a new one or new batteries and that's what I think one of of them needs. we'll. See. Between the two of them there might not end up being much walking that I don't need a scooter. they both are pretty frail. I don't see us doing more than 2-3 hours in the park before they need to rest again.

My Dad always gets a scooter in the park too. There are times when you go later in the day that they are sold out. This has happened to him twice. It is better to order them from somewhere else than chance that they will have them if you are not there near park opening. Once, he bribed someone who was about to turn his in not to turn it in, since he was low on the waiting list. It was a very proud moment for me.

I haven't heard anything yet, so we'll see. I'm hopeful.

I will pray for you.

Sounds like a long day. Hopefully, you have a relaxing evening.

I always like it when the band eat first. That way, they play happy and for longer. :thumbsup2

Oh dinner is done with.

Then we made cookies. Though not from scratch.

Valentine Day cookies? Are they like the ones you get at Halloween with the coloured sugar crystals on top?

No, they had food cloring prints on them. They looked like you were supposed to use them as valentines.

What gives? I wanted cookies earlier. Sounds like a very full day. That sounds interesting about Bountiful baskets.

We went out to eat at Hometown, I went to get a salad and came back to the table and I see this kid about 5 or 6 and he was hanging on our table and his tongue sticking out. I had to ask him to leave. Then I went to find just a little more to nibble and someone was licking their fingers and then touching everything. Anyone interested there is a thread about pet peeves, it has turned into a hilarious thread about the proper way to eat bread and butter. Not to mention how to eat pizza

Yes. I meant to say that the Bountiful baskets look great. Did you get lots of produce?

Yeah, well we would have played the same regardless. But it was sort of nice to eat first, but then we were all full! :rotfl2: some people actually got more afterwords. I just got cake. They had way too much food so I took home pulled pork, potato salad and baked beans, plus the buns for the sandwiches for us to have lunch tomorow.

OK that post from Jo about HB was grossing me out. I tolerate going there because I know fran really likes it. I know that it's a kind of low end buffet since they don't serve beer or wine.

I'm assuming that's because they are afraid that the general level of patrons will break out in fights if they serve alcohol, which speaks to a lot of the general level of patrons. Personally I like the chicken and the lava cake, but I have observed that many other patrons would be quite otherwise engaged under the affect of alcohol.

Check out this Aussie ad from the early 80's.

With the amount they spread on the bread, it looks a little disgusting to put it right on your tongue.

So what do you mean about "time to pick up your produce?"

At least you got a free lunch out of the deal.

Yes. I meant to say that the Bountiful baskets look great. Did you get lots of produce?

Yeah it's food coop. You pay $18 per order, and they do have options. It comes on big truck and gets unloaded by volunteers that put each regular order into two round luandry baskets.

So for $18, I get with my local prices.

$3 container of strawberrys.
$1.50 couple pounds of bananas.
$6 4 bunches of broccoli
$2 head of caluiflower
$2 apples
$4 mini watermellon
$6 green beans

A couple things I don't normally buy so I'm not sure of the pricing.
a pineapple
a few big beets with the greens.
a mango

It's a pretty good deal. Except there are always a few thigns I won't eat, like the pineapple and mango. My brother will take the pineapple if I see him soon. Maybe he willl take the mango, or my mom.

I'm always happy to take the mango. Problem is....its not going to get through customs.

And yes...that was a LOT of butter on the bread. But it is a commercial....enticing you to buy and try.....;)
