GPS rental?

I'm renting a car from Alamo for our March / April trip

Alamo's price for renting a navigation sytem is $9.99 / day.
Is this a fair price?
Does anyone know of an independent rental company which might be cheaper?
I'm not certain whether or not to rent one really but thought it could be useful for our trip to the beach (New Smyrna) for the middle week and if DD and myself were in the car on our own - I'm the world's worst map reader!

I've seen companies renting out systems, in the UK, for £5 / day.

Any help would be much appreciated.

If your just planning on going to WDW, I wouldn't pay the extra. It is very easy driving around.

If you are going anywhere other than WDW I would pay the price to rent it. We never rent a car without it anymore. We are spoiled by having one in our personal car. They are a great help.

We do tend to do a lot of driving around

We have friends who live close by Universal and I always get lost on either the way there, or back

I'm also thinking about the drive to the beach.
I know it isn't far away but, if DD is talking 'at' me and DH is asleep in the back, I'm bound to get lost

I'm not convinced I need it for the whole trip but would be interested if I could rent one for just the middle week maybe?

These GPS units are Nextel type units, They do work fine, but could be hard to read.

If you plan on using the rental for a long time, you might be better off buying one and bringing it with you. (I do this all the time)

You can get some good deals on ebay for GPS units, just make sure the one that you consider has the software with it.
