Do you have a GPS system in your car? If so, please tell us whether you like it or not, and which brand it is. Thanks! :)

I went shopping for a GPS for my Dh. I was lead toward Garmin in each and every store. Ended up getting him a Garmin c340. My sister got a Magellin and seems excited.

Word on the street, stay away from TomTom. Not the best you can buy is what I am told.

We have a Garmin Street Pilot and really like it. We just bought the next model of it for my dad for Christmas, and hopefully it will work well for him. My BIL drives a truck for FedEx, and has used several different GPS units. He was the one who recommended the Garmin to us, and says it's the one he likes best of all the ones he's used for work.

Thanks for the replies so far! :)

My niece and her DH have a Garmin and LOVE it. They were able to take a trip from NJ to Myrtle Beach, spread out over the course of a few days, and depending soley on the information that the Garmin GPS gave her, were able to find good restaurants, hotels, and attractions along the way with NO prior planning! Of course this entire "no prior planning" thing is a foreign concept to me (LOL), but the fact remains that it must've been a very good unit/model to work so well for them! :)

Any more opinions or experiences??? :)

Dh bought a handheld Garmin 60csx and LOVES it. It goes everywhere with us. He did a pretty good bit of research on them, and it seemed to fit his needs best.

We also have a Garmin, aviation one the GPSMap 296c. I love it. Bought it for DH to use in the airplane, but bought the car kit option for myself. :) It's so great, now using it more in the car, and even on the boat, than we do in the plane. I have all our WDW hotel destinations in there, it shaves about 45-60 minutes off of our old drive, takes us in the back way, behind the monoral barn, delivers us to the door at the GF, Poly, and CR. I can vouch for Garmin's customer service too :thumbsup2

I have a Garmin StreetPilot 2720 and couldn't live without it as a realtor! Best money I've ever spent!

I originally had one of the smaller Garmin units (can't remember the name of it), but exchanged it for the StreetPilot.

Even though the 2720 was twice the cost, I couldn't read the screen with polarized sunglasses on the smaller one, and with my light-colored eyes, I have to wear sunglasses when I drive.

We went a little different route with a GPS for the car. We bought a cheap laptop and Microsoft Streets and trips with the GPS. We love it and has gotten us several places so far. The screen is much bigger and can help us do other things as well. Overall our cost wasn't much more than the Garmin that we were looking at.
