Hi!

Has anyone used this for travel?

http://www.getravelop.com

I'm looking for a place for my sister to stay and they claim that you can stay anywhere there is availability for $329.00/week. My DH is a gov't employee so we would qualify, but I'd like to know if anyone has ever booked through them and what their experience was like.

Thanks in advance!

We've used them before. Great deal!! They sent us a confirmation and we just showed up with it at check-in. No problems what so ever. Would use them again in a heartbeat.

Have a great trip!

I wonder if we'd qualify. Husband is a volunteer fireman, so while he works for the borough he really isn't an "employee" because he doesn't get paid. I'm a public school teacher, does that make me a state employee??

I've used www.getravelop.com and the companion site, www.afvclub.com without problems! I also use www.govarm.com for condo rentals, as well. Great deals!

Madge, any insight on how you find places that work out for you. I have only known about and tried afvclub and never had any luck finding anything during the time we want to go. We do have school aged kids and have to work around that. I wonder if that is the problem. How far in advance do you usually look?

I would also like to know if school teachers qualify?

I have been trying for years but have never been able to get a date when the kids are off of school. They have gone up in price.. I think they used to be $299

Bumping...

Any teachers out there use this? Looks great!!

It did take many times to find a place and yes, they did used to be $299. Sometimes they run specials at the $299 rate again. The key is: check what is available and book from that instead of looking for a specific place. We did a Spring Break in the Berkshires (everyone else was in FL?) and it was great! There is a bit of you get what you pay for but for a condo with a kitchen for $300-something for a week-bargain.

Are there any catches? It almost seems too good to be true. My parents belong to a timeshare-type program (RCI) and these are the same properties that are available. There is a yearly membership dues and paid to join. We can continue this for ourselves, but if this is available, it would be cheaper.

I'd love to know what the catch is. There has to be something! This would be awesome, but I don't want to get scammed. :scratchin

Am I eligible to participate?
Eligibility is very simple. If you work for any level of government, Federal, State, County, City, Municipality, or Township, you are eligible to participate in G.E.T.O.

Looks like teachers would qualify. :)

NOW>>>DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A GOOD DEAL ON AIRFARE? DH & I are both gov't employees, municipal & state.

We used AFVC last year for our fall break trip and there was no catch. I made my reservation, paid and check in was a breeze. My kids loved it and we stayed at Orbit One just outside of Disney World. They offered the time share tour but was not a requirement since I was already there on the vacation cub. We will probably stay using AFVC again next year as it does give more room especially when we take my oldest who is 16 and prefers his own space. And no I was not scammed in anyway nor was I charged anymore than what the AFVC price was ($329 plus tax).

There is NO CATCH! Truly. They are unused timeshare weeks that they would rather have filled and make a little money on than having the units sit empty.

Like I mentioned earlier...we've used getravelop, but have also used govarm without any problems what so ever.

The only problem I've found is that we prefer 2 bedroom units and a lot of their inventory is for 1 bedrooms. But...for $329 a week, I'll suffer!

Good luck!

This whole thing sounds really, really too good to be true. $329 for a WEEk in a condo with a kitchen? No timeshare presentation? Seriously, NO catch? No horror stories?

Looks like ANYONE could do it. Any Govt employee can gift it to you, and everyone knows a teacher or postal worker or police officer or whatever...
Resort Vacation Certificates

The Resort Vacation Certificate (RVC) is a great gift idea for family and friends who are ineligible for G.E.T.O. The RVC is a pre-paid voucher program that allows an eligible organization or individual to pre-pay the $329* USD confirmation fee and then award or gift the pre-paid certificate. Click here for details.

As mentioned by others, these are leftover RCI timeshare properties. If they don't get booked, they go unused, so the prices are deeply discounted. You won't find peak seasons or the largest units on school breaks, but if you're flexible, you should get some very nice properties at a great bargain.

My husband and I are both public school employees (teacher and librarian). I was able to sign up with no problem. I haven't used them yet because I generally find better deals on ebay, but I wouldn't hesitate to use them in the future.
