My dearest DIS friends, THE FUNK HAS BEEN BROKEN!
*Cue the Hallelujah Chorus*
And guess what broke it!
Not Mr. Schuester as I had hoped, though I am listening to Give Up the Funk while writing this
But rather, TOY STORY. Or Toy Story 2 to be exact.
It was on ABC Family tonight and I stumbled upon it while flipping through the channels. The Toy Story franchise is quite possibly my favorite movie franchise of all time. Those movies have made me laugh, and made me cry. And also made me feel extremely guilty for not playing with my toys equally. Woody and Buzz and Jessie and Wheezy and the Green Army Men and Rex and Mr. and Mrs. Potatohead are some of my favorite characters ever. I love them all.
So when I saw the movie was on, of course I stopped to watch it. It just happened to be the scene where Buzz and the gang cross the street under traffic cones to get to Als Toy Barn. I smiled, I laughed, and I suddenly got the desire to UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE.
So thank you, Toy Story 2, for breaking my funk! In the words of the little green aliens, We are
or rather I am eternally grateful!
So heres my update! Ive decided to break the trip down, day by day, and share with you all some of what I am most looking forward to.
July 22nd: THE DRIVE
I dont know if Ive mentioned this in my report yet, but my family drives to Disney. We always have, and probably always will. Its tradition. I mean, what better way to start off a vacation right than by forcing all of us to sit within feet of each other for hours and hours?
Seriously though, summer vacation wouldnt be summer vacation without rest stops, eating fast food in the car, and listening to my sister whine about how bored she is. There are also hilarious billboards, gorgeous mountain views, and the inevitable traffic jam in North Carolina. Theres just something about seeing all of the people with luggage in their cars coming to and from their vacation destinations that gets me in that vacation mood.
We will be driving the entire distance between our house in Ohio and Orlando in one day. Are we crazy for attempting this? Maybe. Probably. Ok, yes we are all certifiably insane. But we usually leave home at 4:00 AM, drive down to Jacksonville in one day, spend the night at a motel, and then get up crazy early and drive 2 hours to WDW the next morning so we can be at the Magic Kingdom for rope drop, anyway. Why not just add those 2 hours onto the end of the first day? Then we can sleep in later the next morning.
So were going to try it. We have a motel reservation somewhere in Orlando. I honestly have no idea where my mom booked it. I think its a Best Western, though. I dont really have a motel preference. All I need is a bed that doesnt look completely disgusting and a shower head that doesnt just trickle out water. Because shower heads that trickle out water are the absolute worst for long-haired people like myself. And they leave me feeling like this..
July 23rd: FIRST DAY AT WDW!!!!
This morning we will probably attempt to leave the Possibly Best Western around 8:00. And before long we will be driving through here
Ignore my dads shoulder and the interior of the car
Its hard taking pics from the back seat!
Well head straight for the Polynesian. I will jump out of the car and kiss the ground because we are FINALLY in Disney. And back at my favorite resort! Then well head into the GCH and I will get my OMG WERE AT WDW squee on. Im apologizing in advance to anyone who might be staying at the Polynesian at this time. Avoid the GCH around 8:30 if you dont want to listen to my high-pitched squeal. Or if you want a good show, come join me! Posting a video of my joyous freak out might get a lot of hits on
Youtube!
Because its tradition, we will be spending our first day at the Magic Kingdom! Every vacation must start and end with the MK. Its, like, the law. Or at least its MY law.
I cant wait to do this again. The first walk up Main Street is always so exciting. I always get that extra spring in my step. And feel like humming a happy tune. Its kind of like a scene from a movie.
Three Things We Absolutely Must Do on the First Day:
1. Complete the Triple Mountain Whammy Lets face it, those three mountains are all totally wham. I mean, if Stacey says it, its the truth. And a trip to the MK wouldnt be complete until Ive taken a spin on these mountains. Im especially excited for this years Whammy because Space Mountain is all shiny and updated! Plus, Space Mountain always seems to be the ride where we get the most dirty looks from the Standby folk when using Fastpass. And I love a good dirty look. They make me feel special. Which is why I always make sure to play up the elite-ness when walking past the dirty look givers. A good Im soooo glad we didnt have to wait in this horrible line always does the trick.
Heres a pic of my FAVORITE mountain
Big Thunder
2. Watch Stacey

In case you havent figured this out yet, Stacey is my girl. I adore her. Shes just so bubbly and full of joy. And though Disney has toned her waaaaay down, shes still amazing. So the second we get into our room, I will be putting Stacey on. And refusing to move for about an hour while I watch her over and over.
3. See the Main Street Electrical Parade and Summer Nighttastic Fireworks The Magic Kingdom at night is extra super magical. I mean, isnt this just one of the most amazing things youve ever seen?
Or how about this? Its been my laptop wallpaper since we got home last summer.
So yeah, we will definitely be taking in the evening entertainment at the MK. Im really excited to see the new fireworks. Ive had good times with Wishes over the years, but I am ready for something new.
HOWEVER
I will be missing Spectromagic like crazy. Spectro is probably my favorite thing in all of WDW. I love it a ridiculous amount. And while Im sure the MSEP will be good, itll still leave me feeling a little empty on the inside. I mean, these guys have been creeping me out for as long as I can remember.
How am I going to survive without them?
And the characters in Spectro have always treated me like someone special. I mean, this happened last summer.
Yep, thats right. The Genie is waving at little old me. And for the girl who used to watch Aladdin over and over again growing up, this was, in the words of Joe Biden, a BIG FN DEAL. Is the Genie in the MSEP? If not, I am going to throw a fit. And I am VERY good at throwing a fit. Just ask the doctor I kicked a while back because I was too scared to get a Strep Throat test. Yeah, that really happened. My poor pediatrician took a lot of abuse. He was actually the doctor that delivered me. The poor guy had no idea what he was getting into.
Anyway
Its safe to say Im going into this with pretty low expectations. Im prepared to be disappointed. Then, if the MSEP is even remotely entertaining, Ill leave content. Or as content as one can be without her precious Spectromagic.
July 24th: A Day of Firsts
On the 24th, my family will be heading to Epcot. Its a pretty big day for us, because its a day that will be full of new experiences. And a lot of old, but still amazing, ones.
Three Things I Am Beyond Excited For at Epcot
1. Lunch at Le Cellier Ive already mentioned over and over again just how excited I am for this meal, so I wont repeat myself. But just remember how REALLY REALLY excited I am.
2. Dinner from the Tangierine Café in Morocco Fun Fact: I am addicted to Hummus. I LOVE the stuff. If I were Lady Gaga, Id say that Hummus and I have a Bad Romance. I could honestly eat mountains of the stuff. Ive always wanted to grab a nice Chicken Shwarma Platter from the CS in Morocco, but I never have. However, this year that will change. I am making it a point to eat there. Or at least grab a plate and meet up with the rest of my family somewhere far less exotic. Because they are all LAME and dont like to try new things.
Because I dont have a picture of the food yet, heres a palm tree at night in Morocco. Its so pretty there at night!
3. Impromptu Pre-Illuminations Dance Parties

This isnt a new experience for me, but let me explain. You know the weird sort of international techno music they play before Illuminations? Well, I like to have a little dance party when they crank up the jams. Nothing big, but my sister and I break it down. Or rather I break it down while my sister pretends that we arent related. She just cant appreciate my coolness.
So I bust a move under the light of these puppies and all is right in the World.
Okay, thats all for now, folks! But since my funk has evidently been broken, be on the lookout for more updates soon. I have so much more to share with yall! Including 4 more days of WDW plans!!!
