We're planning to go to DCA on Thursday -- it will be our last trip this spring on our SoCal Select AP. We have not yet ridden GOTG, we also want to do Space Mountain (I understand the original will be back on Thursday, and we've never ridden that yet). We may also do Frozen again (only did it once so far), and intend to do MSEP, since it will go away before our summer blockout dates are over. Visiting Red Rose Taverne and eating Grey Stuff may be gravy... or icing on the cake, depending on your metaphor.

Those five things will make for a successful day for us, and I anticipate lots of standing in lines in order to make it happen.

But I was curious if anyone has feedback on actual wait times for GOTG in the morning. Today, they immediately put up a 60 minute estimate... and then, within about 45 minutes it had climbed to 200 minutes... and then dropped to 70 minutes by 9:45.

However, I know that those are really just estimates... wondering if anyone has any real world information on how long they waited then... or tips of how long the wait might be if the line is at a certain point. We'll do FP at least once, but will evaluate riding standby as well, depending on crowd conditions.

It hasn't been open long enough or with equal crowds to really give a good estimate. Sunday was much less busy. We were there but didn't ride GOG. However, I noticed the app never went higher than 135 minutes and was even under 2 hours most of the day. I would say go there first and get FP or hop in line if you can be there before opening.

How long you wait first thing in the morning is going to depend on two things. 1. How early you get there for rope drop, and if there is early entry in DCA that day. If you can be to the front of the gate before they start letting people in and towards rope drop, you should be able to get on the ride within the first 15-30 minutes, and then grab a fast pass for later.

By comparison, my wife on opening day since she was like a kid on christmas was at the security line around 4:30am, and when they opened the gates to empty the esplanade leading up to rope drop at 7am, we were at the far corner of buena vista street almost in front of the Hyperion. We got on the ride around 8:10am that day approximately and was able to get fast passes for a second run for the 12:50-1:50 hour.
