Got to the HOT SEAT on Millionaire 10/16!

That is AWESOME!!!!! I have been in the #1 spot 3 times when the game ends. That is so frustrating!!!!!! I am looking forward to warming that seat during this trip:p

Man!! Congrats!! I've been in the top 10 a couple of times, but never been in the hot seat!! I would also appreciate any tips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ::yes:: ;)

Thanks for all the congrats and well wishes. I'm feeling the love!

No tips that I know of. I never get the first fastest finger question that they do to get the first person down. Just get the rest right and push in your answer fast!

I started getting in the top 10 during my last trip. I'd say if you're showing up in the top ten, keep going to the show and you'll be in the hot seat before you know it!

When I got to the hot seat, my daughter (age 10) was third on the board. She copies me on what she doesn't know. So next trip, I'll still do my entries but maybe she'll make it to the hot seat! I'll still be in the 30 day ban on hot seat.

I was under the impression that once you won the million point question it was a 1 yr "ban". Everything else is 30 days.

Hightown- Holy@#$%!!! That was me who congratulated you in the food court at Pop Century!!!! I was #4 on the board when you got picked! I was so nervous for you. You did AWESOME!!!!

There are definitely several tips for getting into the seat. I've made it 3 times so far (2x got over 32,000 and other time the 1,000 prizes). The trick is speed. You cannot think - a 1 second pause on any question dooms you. For fastest finger (which I've never won) you just have to push 4 buttons as fast as possible - just pick an order and go with it the second they light up). Because of the large number of people in the audience someone will always get the right order in about 1-2 seconds - you can never match that by thinking. (For those who don't want to do the math - a random guess is 1/24 chance to get it right - with hundreds in the audience - at least a small handfull will guess correctly.

As for the regular game, find a comfortable position where you can get your fingers on the button and press it repeatedly really quickly to answer (I like with my hand over the top and the thumb on the button.) Put your finger on A and as the answers are read move your finger along and stop when the right answer is read. Right after choice C is read the lights will light up so start pressing fast as soon as C is being read if you know the answer.

Now - here's a really important tip which could give you the necessary edge. When there is a question that you know the answer to - hope that the answer is "D". Because the lights will light before D is even read and you can start pressing D repeatedly as soon as it lights up if you know that A, B and C are wrong. (This won't work on every question - for example, if the question asked for the most western state of the 4 choices, there is no "right" answer - it's all relative so you can never be sure if "D" is going to be right until you actually see the answer. But this works most of the time.) Because most people won't press "D" until they see the right answer, you can gain a precious second. Since most hot seat winners are decided by just about that margin - it can make the difference.

I also was in the hotseat on July 2nd of 2003. I was so nervous. One of the first questions was what is the reply that Thumpkin gives when asked "Where is Thumpkin?" I had a brain freeze and had to use a life line and polled the audience. Ofcourse the answer was "Here I am", which 95% of the audience knew. The funny part was that the host starting singing the song, and the whole audience sang with her for quite along time. I was a little embarassed for not knowing it, but it settled me down a bit and I got the next few questions right. I finally missed on a literature question @ $64,000. What town is referenced in , insert author here, "Our Town" ? The only town I had heard of was the one from "It's a Wonderful Life", so I guessed and missed. It was a great experience and hadn't really thought about it lately until I read this post.

That is so exciting! I wanna cruise! I read that in addition to all those harder than expected questions (wow! I'm not as smart as I think I am - I better hope for a bunch of artist questions ;) ) there were a lot of them about WDW. ?Were there?

Congrats on that fabulous cruise!

There is usually only one Disney-related question somewhere below the 1000 point level. It is usually an animated feature question, and not a WDW question. My husband did get a Disney family question at 64,000 points one time (What state was Walt & Lillian Disney married in?) and he was thrilled! He'd like to have 15 of those questions!
When the MGM Studios' WWTBAM show started over 3 years ago the first 3 questions were always Disney-related, and one of those was usually about WDW. But, they stopped that after a couple of months because too many people were getting them wrong!
By the way, the answer is Lewiston, Idaho.

zurgswife, I'm banned from the hot seat for 30 days and banned from the 1,000,000 point win for a year. But there is no ban on family members. So DD can follow my entries on the key pad but of course if she gets to the hot seat, she is on her own. But they say the the youngest cruise winner was 9yrs old. A lot is luck my last question was just a guess!

Lauren, guess we weren't wearing our green ribbons! I really appreciated your congrats at the food court. It really is amazing how many DISers are at WDW at any one time.

I remember I had one Disney question about a film and I wouldn't have known the answer except that one possible answer--Rosie O'Donnell didn't fit with the others.

I'd love to know if Disney is going to do something special for winner #100 (I was 97). Hopefully will be a Diser and we'll find out!

Congrats on the win. The closest I've ever gotten was the 250,000 point level. I will be shooting for my 10th trip to the hot seat this December. Who knows. Maybe we'll get to cruise together.::yes::

Hey, I got in the hotseat for the first time on 10/11 and to 250,000 points as well! :) One tip, which I knew, but didn't follow, is trust your gut. I used two lifelines on a question that my gut answer was right, but I wasn't positive on, and then at the 250,000, I didn't know the right answer, but my gut guess was right. Unfortunately my phone-a-complete-stranger sounded very confident about his wrong answer and it was a very logical answer as well...

Looking forward to getting in the hotseat again in December, and coming home with the cruise this time! ::yes::

I got in the hot seat once, and I was so scared to be in front of all those people I answered the third question wrong, without using any lifelines! I had to pick a type of dog, so now whenever I do something really head-smacking-ly dumb, I say I've "poodled," which was the wrong answer I gave! People were coming up to me all day, chiding me for getting such an easy question wrong.

I'll keep trying, though.
