Hi all. DH and I are renting points for SSR in September. I'm SURE that's why we got this in the mail.

It says that we can get a free $25 Disney gift card if we listen to a DVC timeshare demonstration over the phone or in person, for at least 10 minutes (I thought that last part was funny).

Has anyone done this? I know all about DVC, but DH doesn't, so I kinda want him to hear about it anyway. We'll probably never EVER buy into DVC from Disney, but it would be nice to learn about it in case we ever bought a resale. And who knows, maybe DH will have a change of heart? We've never stayed DVC before, so this upcoming trip will be quite an experience!!

Let me know if you've ever done this- the $25 would be a nice addition to our trip! :goodvibes

Yes, I did it quite some time ago - year and a half ago? Can't remember how I got/found the offer, but we didn't rent DVC.

Fairly painless and the $25 GC was nice!

I did it just a two weeks ago. Not painless at all. You could go there and they will offer you more, (I have heard up to 100), but who wants to waste vacation time?

So.... we should do it over the phone then, not in person right? That's what we were thinking... and the GC is supposed to come to us within 30 days... and we're at the 37 day mark! Better call soon! :goodvibes

I only get the ones for a free lithograph.....I'd like to get the 25.00 gift card though, that's nice!

I normally do it on a day that we don't have lunch planned. It takes about 2 hours from the time you leave the park to the time you arrive at wherever you ask to be dropped off, and mid morning is one of the times that they have offered the $100 gift card in the past.

They give you coffee and cookies to start with, you take the tour, and then give you an ice cream sundae buffet at the end.

I try to schedule it so that I'd be park hopping anyway, so really, it only takes 45 minutes out of my day, plus I get a free late breakfast.

And the $100 in gift cards certainly are nice :cool1:

Do you have to be invited to call? I'd love to do this ...how do I go about getting the number/ invite if needed? tia! :thumbsup2

We did this in June while at WDW. I was interested in learning about DVC anyway, and the free $15 GC for each of us (2 adults, 2 kids= $60 GC) was well worth it for us. The kids were able to play in the supervised kid area while we talked/toured and we all got ice cream at the end. They shuttled us from POP & back too. That $60 GC came in handy at the gift shop! :thumbsup2

We just went up to the DVC counter while we were there -- they had one set up at POP near the gift shop where we were staying, but I also saw several of them at all the parks too.

Maybe someone else can chime in but I think you can call 1 (877) 854 8308 and schedule it ahead of time too.

Well, ask and ye shall receive LOL I just got an invitation out of my mailbox...YAY!!! So, when I call this number....it says to talk to a Vacation Club Guide, is that a real person? The other DVC online presentations I've watched are just pre-taped video type shows and at the end they send you out a lithograph for your time.

I just don't want to get stuck on the phone for an hour or more with a real (pushy) salesman.

We also got $15 each per member of our family for our time, $75, we went on a day we were doing the water park, which opened later than the other parks anyways. They came and got us from the hotel, they had oj, muffins and stuff there for us to eat and it was so nice having a kid free break, it lasted 2 hours, but we asked a lot of questions, and afterwards we ate icecream with the kids and were driven right to the water park :thumbsup2 I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

I did this last year and the interactive tour is done with a live agent. The process is very easy and professional, not pushy at all. I don't think I spent more than 15 min on the phone. He sent a FEDEX package with brochures...can't remember if the GC was included with that shipment. However, I received everything fairly fast...like within 2 weeks.

I had the same exact experience. It really is painless. They call a few times to make sure you got the Fedex and see if you have any questions. But they are not pushy. I would do it over the phone again if I had the chance.

awesome!

Last September my husband and I were staying with friends at AKL Kidani. It was either at the DVC stand in the lobby or on a flyer in a room that we saw an advertisement for a $100 giftcard in exchange for listening to the DVC spiel.

Because we were staying in a two bedroom villa our castmember did not think it important for us to go on the tour as that we pretty much had seen everything DVC had to offer room-wise. :thumbsup2

All in all the presentation lasted about 45 minutes and was pretty much the quickest I've ever made $100. I often wonder if DVC keeps track of who has already participated in these presentations and as to whether or not it would be possible to make a repeat transaction in two or three years when we (hopefully) return.

I got my offer just a couple of days after I booked a resort stay. Like everyone else has said, it was very painless. Less than 10 minutes.

ok, so some people are doing it by phone and some people are doing it in person ?

I never understood, do you have to have an invite and set up an appointment or do you just go to the DVC desk and ask about the $100 for the spiel ?

We are kinda interested in DVC, mainly BLT, but we do have 3 kiddie 4,5&11. So it would be super helpful to do it at one that offers child supervision :)

TIA
