and I must say that so far I am very impressed. And that is just with the features. I have spent a major portion of the day sitting with the manual and the camera going over all the settings and features. There are a ton of them but part of the fun is learning them all. I am really excited about using this camera.

I got the Pentax vert grip and it is working fine too. Now just waiting for the Sahara 217F bag to be delivered on Monday.

Congrats! I am starting to be awed by some of the reports of the K-5's ISO performance and DR but I have to remind myself that the K-7 is a very capable little beast. :) Going from one of the 6mp models directly to the K-7 (I think that's what you did, right?) has got to be really amazing! :thumbsup2

I went from the 100D....seems like a huge difference so far, especially the features....will take a bit of time to learn but I am getting familiar pretty quik with the basic features.

Let me tell you, it's hard to go back. :) In fact, my K100D might be going up for sale to help the K-5 fund - it's pretty much never used since Mrs Groucho got her K-x, and while I like the idea of having around a CCD-sensor DSLR, I'd probably rather have the extra funding. :) It's also very hard to go from two wheels back to one, even for simple things like viewing your photos - I like that you can zoom in with the rear wheel and spin the front one to view different photos while keeping the zoom constant; very nice for comparing shots.

Oh yeah - make sure your firmware is the latest version (it probably isn't out of the box), they've made some solid improvements in live view focusing speed and some other features... some even claim better high ISO performance through it's not a huge difference or anything.

Welcome to the Pentax club. I have been using the K10D. Just turned
35000 shot. Will be getting the K5 in the spring. Enjoy and have fun!
