Disney called me yesterday about my 9/11 Tempanyaki reservations. Thankfully, I knew that the rest. would be closed during my trip about two weeks ago and called to get backup ressies. HOWEVER, the Disney caller offered VIP seating for illuminations for my group of 12 due to the inconvenience. Yeah!!!!:cool1:

Same thing happened to us for our ressies there on 9/12.
The thing is... I am wondering just how "VIP" this seating is if theya rea giving it out to every person who had ADR's for teppanyaki that day. This could easily be several hundred people- where are they going to put everyone?

I just started posting polls for this. I haven't put your week up yet. Anyone have a clue as to how many people fit in the area? Is it actual seating or standing room only?

I was just at your August poll and was thinking of starting a September poll. I wonder how many people can fit in that spot also.

I would think they are going to block off several area around WS for the VIP seating. I would think it's just an area so sitting on the ground or standing will have to be done. this will most likley be the outcoves close to the lake . Someone else talked to a CM about another VIP voucher they had and they were told it was the area from Mexico to Canada along the lake.

I have talked about this as well. There is NO seating (maybe a bench or two for handicapped people but that is it) They are roping off several areas around WS - appraantley areas for the old millenium village? From what I have read it doesn't appear that these are really all that great of places, but that they are trying to appease us since we can't eat where we want to.

So - here's my theory - don't flame me, its just my opionion.

The wait for ALL of the restaurants are going to be much worse than anticipated (again my opion) reasoning is this. Most of the TS places have been booked pretty solid of not sold out for weeks now due to free dining. Now all of the sudden there are all these tables open where they are going to fit us in? I just think that we will all be waiting around a lot longer - THose of you that had prevouis ressies at lets say Le Cellier will now be waiting longer becuase they are fitting in those of us that got it since Teppanyaki are closed.

2nd the vip areas are still going to be filling up quickly and I don't feel that they really offer that much better of a viewing area. The TRUE VIP seats Disney makes too much money off of with corporate booking ect to give those up to us for free. Personally I would have taken a lanyard/pin set or mickey ears vs. the vip seating. I just wish they would have offered us a choice.

There are about 25,000 people that this affects from Mid September through mid October.

Its just a bummer the whole way around. I had booked teppanyaki twice during my stay and can't even get it once. My family was really looking forward to this.

:sad2:

They only do ADR's for a percentage. There is a small percentage that is reserved for VIPs/Concierge. I guess when your paying $$$$ a night for the presidental suite on top of the Dolphin, you can get CRT the day of.

So they are able to tap into that percentage to compensate anyone that needs to be switched.

When I spoke to them the other day the CM even helped me get Liberty Tavern on the night/time it was fully booked up for the Pirate and Princess party. She even offered me CRT (no, thanks, save that for a little princess!) -- How cool is that?

So in a nutshell, all booked up is just for "Advanced Reservations" -- I believe we will all be fine :)

After speaking to an Epcot restaurant CM, I agree that this is exactly what's going to happen. They don't hold back that many reservations for concierge. They are just increasing the number of tables they are trying to serve in the same allotted time. I hope people don't take their frustration out on the servers who have no control over this situation.

I posted the first two weeks, but haven't gotten to the last two yet. :guilty:
