I called a travel agent yesterday for a price quote for a trip in September. The agency is located in our local shopping mall, and I have $350 in mall gift certificates, so why not call and hear what they have to offer. She quoted me a price of $1273 for 2 adults for 7 day passes MYW, and one extra night at the beginning of our trip. We will be staying at the All Star Music. We will be driving down, so wanted the first night there to be just for resting before we hit the parks. I have not decided whether to buy from the agency, or just book on my own, and wait and hope for a discount on room only. With my upcoming profit sharing, the gift certificates, and DH's overtime, the trip will be paid for.
Any thoughts on this price quote?

Why not go on the WDW web site and get a free quote for comparison. This way you can see all the options for yourself.

Is this with dining? I was quoted 1273.00 for 2 adults and 2 kids ages 5 and 2 for the myw plus dining package. We're staying from Jan 25-31st at ASMo. Btw, this is Disney's quote.

The agent did not mention dining, which I know is another $35 per person, per day. I had picked up a brochure from the Disney store on Saturday and the price on that was $223 per person for the passes. The price she quoted must have included the dining. I am sure my DH would enjoy that as he really likes the breakfast buffets. He would definately get his money's worth from the dining option, I am not sure I would.
Thanks for the replies, now this really gives me something to think about.

Your quote should be cheaper than my quote since its only 2 adults in your party and 2 adults 2 kids in mine.

call the resort yourself and see how much they quote you. If you have AAA ask the cast member for the room rate for AAA. You may be surprised that you can ususally book it yourself for much cheaper. If they didn't tell you meals were included, I would assume that they were not.

Keep in mind that there are several travel companies mentioned regularly on these boards that specialize in Disney vacations. No offense to all the other hard working, talented travel agents, but Disney is an industry in itself. If you choose to have an agent at all, I'd use one of these.....

Very true ... but she doesn't have a $350 gift certificate she can use with them :).

wifeofjack: Welcome to the DIS! It is usually cheaper to book on your own than through a TA. I think my advise would be to make sure you know exactly what your quote includes and then check with Disney and get the same quote from them. You can even check online. If Disney's is cheaper, then go back to the TA and have them meet or beat the price. As HANDYMOM pointed out, not all TAs concentrate on Disney and yours may have made a mistake in booking.

I would also make sure you can use the GCs. Good luck!

Ooops ... a little OT: I see you're staying at ASMu. I prefer any other value resort to All-Star Music. Check out Pop Century. It's the same price, just over 1 year old and much nicer that ASMu IMO.

I was quoted close to $1800.00 for 2 adults and 1 child with the meal plan, on the Disney site. Was that for 7 nights???

If this was really your quote, you got a fantastic deal. Are you sure it is correct? I just priced out your itinerary on the Disney website. 6 nights beginning 1/25 at ASMo, with the MYW tickets (plus dining option, but no other options), and it came out to be $1,608. That is per Disney. You may want to double-check your quote or at least what you paid for, b/c that sounds too good to be true unless you used some sort of discount that we don't know about.

hokiefan, i was going to ask LilMamaBella the same questions... it truly seems too good to be true... esp w/dining 'cause that alone would be almost $500, which leaves only another $800 for lodging and tickets!

to the op... perhaps you would consider just booking your airfare thru the ta at your local mall using the gc and booking the rest independently thru disney, buying tix online or a combo of all the options...

Did you have a code? I checked in sept for the same # of people and ages, one less night and was giving 1501 by disney for All Star movies

I was pleasently suprised when I called Disney myself. I checked everywhere Southwest.com, the Disney Site, etc. and pretty much came to the conclusion that I was going to pay $140.00 a night for a moderate resort. I then called Disney just for information as I could not book 10 nights on the site. The rep gave me a sweet deal (I HOPE HAHAHA) of just 81.00 a night including taxes for the Caribbean, and a free upgrade!!!!

Since you are lucky enough to still have a Disney Store nearby, I would book with whomever gets you the best price (and that could be YOU! ::yes:: ) and use the $350 in CG to buy Disney Dollars at TDS.

Good Luck! And Welcome to the DIS! :)
